"The way they have received it is overwhelming."
Sarika Sabah wowed fans with her portrayal of Roshni in the melancholic romantic drama Emon Dine Tare Bola Jay.
Her cameo instantly became the most talked-about element of the project.
Sarika’s brief appearance left a striking impact on viewers who praised the character’s emotional depth and subtle charm.
Her return to television after nearly two years came with expectations, and she had been waiting for a role that felt meaningful.
Sarika earlier shared that she reduced her work because she felt the characters being offered lacked variety and dimension.
She said she wanted a role that challenged her creatively and allowed her to reconnect with viewers in a memorable way.
Her journey back to the screen began at the Meril Prothom Alo Awards, where she met director Jahid Preetom.
During that meeting, she mentioned her wish for a strong story that could help her stage a thoughtful comeback.
The director later contacted her and invited her to listen to a story that he believed would suit her evolving artistic choices.
He explained how the telefilm relied on layered conversations between characters played by Priyontee Urbee and Tawsif Mahbub.
Jahid then introduced the idea of Roshni, whose presence changes the emotional rhythm of the narrative in a gentle way.
Sarika said she instantly felt a symbolic connection between Roshni and the beloved Rupa from Humayun Ahmed’s work.
That connection convinced her that the character carried a charm she rarely found in recent small-screen productions.
“I immediately knew I had to be a part of this project.”
She noted that her transformation from Jhumur of Family Crisis to Roshni involved both personal growth and physical change.
“As I lost 24 kilograms, the audience saw me in a completely new avatar and a fresh character.”
She admitted feeling nervous on the release day because her appearance had been kept a surprise for viewers.
Sarika said she was not included in the promotional poster, which increased her anxiety about the audience reaction.
However, within hours, she noticed reels, screenshots and comments flooding social media that praised her performance.
She went through many of the posts and said she felt overwhelmed by the affection directed toward the character.
“The way they have received it is overwhelming.”
Reflecting on her future, Sarika said she is preparing for a transition to film because she wants to explore larger stories.
The actress believes the industry is now blending television, cinema and digital platforms, which creates new opportunities for actors seeking range.
Sarika Sabah concluded by saying she hopes to bring more surprises for audiences during Eid and Valentine’s Day in 2026.
