"It kept growing, and so did my vision.”

Emon Saha, known for composing some of the most memorable film scores in Bangladesh, is making his directorial debut.

Silence: A Musical Journey is a full-length musical drama that is set to release later in 2025.

Initially conceived as a short film, the project has now grown into a theatrical feature.

Saha explained that the story demanded more time and space than originally planned.

He said: “I started out with a short, but the story had more to say. It kept growing, and so did my vision.”

The film traces the transformation of a young woman born into a rural Baul family.

She leaves her village for the city, chasing not just musical success but also a deeper sense of identity.

Her journey becomes a metaphor for artistic struggle, self-discovery, and the emotional cost of ambition.

Saha continued: “In this story, I’ve tried to show not just one woman’s growth but the existential challenges faced by anyone walking the path of creativity.

“Life forces us to make choices, and those choices often come at a price.”

The cast includes National Award-winning actor Symon Sadik, along with Neelanjona Neela, Intekhab Dinar, and Azad Abul Kalam.

While actors Jeetu Ahsan and Zinat Shanu Swagata were initially attached to the project, they are no longer part of the final lineup.

Saha is producing the film under his own banner. Portions of the shoot are still ongoing, but post-production is expected to begin soon.

He has already registered Silence: A Musical Journey with the Bangladesh Film Directors’ Association.

The goal is to release it in cinemas before the end of 2025.

On July 1, 2025, he shared his excitement in a Facebook post:

“Since childhood, I dreamt of becoming a filmmaker.

“But I never had the time, the opportunity, or the courage. Finally, I’ve taken the leap.”

His shift into filmmaking marks a new chapter in a career rooted in legacy.

Emon Saha is the son of the legendary composer and film producer Satya Saha, known for iconic films.

His work includes hits like Ashikkhito, Chhutir Ghonta, Ram Rahim Jon, and Tomar Jonno Pagol.

For many, Emon Saha’s directorial debut feels like a natural extension of that legacy.

What began as a modest experiment has evolved into one of the most anticipated directorial debuts of the year.

And if his musical storytelling is any indicator, Silence is unlikely to be quiet.
