"But today I’m really missing my Mansoor."
Sara Ali Khan has penned a note for her late co-star Sushant Singh Rajput on the anniversary of their first movie together.
The young Bollywood actress had been marking exactly three years since her debut film, Kedarnath (2018), was released.
Rajput played Mansoor Khan while Khan played his love interest, Mandakini or ‘Mukku’ in Abhishek Kapoor’s romance drama.
Khan marked the occasion by sharing a 47-second trailer for the film with her 37.7 million Instagram followers.
She also added a touching tribute to Rajput in the caption which read:
“Three years ago my biggest dream came true. I became an actor, and my first, and most special film released.
“I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to explain how much Kedarnath means to me- the place, the film, the memories, all of it.
“But today I’m really missing my Mansoor.
“It’s only because of Sushant’s unwavering support, selfless help, constant guidance and compassionate advice that Mukku was able to reach your hearts.
“From Kedarnath to Andromeda. Miss you forever Sushant.”
Kedarnath follows a reserved Muslim porter who falls in love with a wealthy Hindu girl amid the 2013 Uttarakhand floods.
It received mixed reviews but both actors were praised for their performances in the movie which launched Khan’s career.
She went on to appear in Simmba (2018), part of Rohit Shetty’s cop universe, which also starred Ranveer Singh and Sonu Sood.
The following year, the actress was cast as a lead in rom-com Love Aaj Kal (2020) opposite Kartik Aaryan.
In 2020, Khan was also seen in the comedy Coolie No. 1 (2020) along with Varun Dhawan and Paresh Rawal.
However, her original co-star Sushant Singh Rajput died in June 2020, before she ever had the chance to work with him again.
Suicide was ruled as the official cause of death but there has been widespread doubt over whether this was indeed the case.
Rajput’s girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty was also highly scrutinised following his passing, which many believe to be drug-related.
Khan has a number of upcoming projects including Atrangi Re (2021) which is scheduled for release on Christmas Eve.
The 26-year-old is also thought to be filming a currently untitled movie with Vicky Kaushal, directed by Laxman Utekar.
Sara Ali Khan is the daughter of Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh while Kareena Kapoor Khan is her stepmother.
