Sania Mirza launches autobiography with Shahrukh Khan

"I hope it is a useful roadmap to guide the next generation of tennis players from India."

Indian tennis queen Sania Mirza has launched her autobiography, titled Ace Against Odds.

Published by Harper Collins, the book records the incredible journey of how the tennis star climbed to the world’s number 1 spot in women’s doubles.

She also gives an account of the achievements, struggles as well as challenges she faced from childhood.

To make the launch a truly star-studded event on July 13, 2016 in Hyderabad, Sania has invited Bollywood icon Shahrukh Khan to attend.

King Khan feels very proud of what Sania has accomplished, saying: “Sania has done more than anyone else to make our country proud.

“The more love we show to our women and the more love and respect we show to our ladies… Believe me, we will have many more achievements which are world class like Sania’s.”

The 29-year-old athlete expresses there is no one more suitable than SRK to support her book launch.

She says: “All I had to do is just say can you please come and unveil this very special thing for me. That’s all I had to say and he is here.

“By the grace of god, I had a long, entertaining career on and off the court. I am glad I am able to present it.”

Ace Against Odds has many memorable relationships Sania has formed throughout her career, all of which have contributed to her growth and success.

She hopes her autobiography can be an inspiration to many other women:

“I hope this book is a useful roadmap to guide the next generation of tennis players from India.

“If my story can inspire even one youngster to the heights of winning a grand slam in the future, I will feel blessed.”

The book contains 40 chapters and has taken almost five years to complete.

She will unveil her book in Delhi on July 15 with Bollywood actress Parineeti Chopra.

Sabiha is a psychology graduate. She is passionate about writing, women empowerment, Indian classical dance, performing and food! Her motto is “we need to teach our women to be somebodies instead of somebody’s”
