"There are similar problems in every household."
Saba Faisal has candidly spoken about the rumours that she was not happy with her daughter-in-law.
She appeared on Gup Shab and spoke to Vasay Chaudhry where she said the media had the habit of hyping things up and blowing things out of proportion.
The conversation began when Saba spoke about marital life and stated she was a good daughter-in-law, sister-in-law and a good wife.
She was then questioned about the similarities between her on-screen portrayal of a mother-in-law and a real-life one.
Saba replied: “This is not hidden from anyone, but I am very happy.
“My second daughter-in-law has arrived and you will now see the reality of it all.
“Look, when you go through the first experience of any relationship there will always be something to understand.
“I became a mother-in-law for the first time, and my daughter-in-law moved into someone else’s house for the first time too.
“There are a few things that cannot be blamed on one person.
“But I believe that social media has a hand in highlighting bad news. There are similar problems in every household.
“But because we are in the limelight, our stories are sensationalised even more.”
Rumours surfaced in 2022 that Saba Faisal had kicked her son and daughter-in-law out of the family home and had broken all ties with the couple.
It further escalated when Saba Faisal released a video on Instagram where she spoke of the incident and did not deny any rumours.
However, Saba later admitted that she did not deal with the problem maturely and she could have handled it a better way.
“I was involved in a major controversy a few days ago, and I believe that it was my fault. I unnecessarily spoke about something but then I learnt from my naive and immature behaviour.
“I learnt that I should have ignored or avoided it. It would have been wise to simply ignore or handle it with silence.
“Now I know that when something happens, I should just stay quiet about it.”
The audience was allowed to ask Saba questions and one individual asked whether the Pakistani drama industry needed good writers or actors.
Saba said she believed there was a need for both.
Another question asked was surrounding the final episodes of drama serials.
Saba was asked why a drama serial focused on negativity throughout the drama but the last episode was full of positivity.
She replied that it was the need for content and that you need several episodes in which you portray the negative characters.
“In the end, when there are evil mothers-in-law like myself they cry and ask for forgiveness.”
“You cannot ask for forgiveness in just one episode. It is a life-long regret and if someone turns towards the right path you need to highlight this in an episode.
“You need to show the audience that there is a lot of bad in the world and dramas show how evil one person can be.”
