Lakmè 2014 showcased the wearable, affordable style of the UK high street with an Indian twist.
At Lakmè Fashion Week 2014 the UK high street brands River Island and Miss Selfridge made their debut with collections that will be exclusively available on the Indian e-commerce site Jabong.com.
River Island has over 60 hears of fashion experience and also has 300 stores across the UK, Ireland and also in Asia, the Middle East and Europe.
At Lakmè 2014 they showcased their signature wearable style, which offers very affordable looks to both men and women.
The collection comprised of figure hugging cigarette pants, pencil skirts, corsets, cutaway tees, and micro miniskirts in leather, plaid jumpsuits and printed shirts.
Highlights included the asymmetric jackets and the formal black jumpsuits with lattice work which will prove eye-catching additions to any woman’s wardrobe.
The men’s wear collection was casual and easy to wear. There were printed and plaid shirts, Bermuda shorts, sweaters, pullovers and hooded two-tone and denim parkas.
Different textures were also mixed with blousons in denim, leather and cotton for a stylish look.
Ending the show was the beautiful Kriti Sanon, who is the star of the film Heropanti. She glided down the runway in a stunning metallic miniskirt matched with a mesh blous of the same colour.
Continuing the high street showcase at Lakmè 2014, the Miss Selfridge show was also on a par with the biggest designer labels.
Miss Selfridge has been delivering exciting clothes and accessories to the UK since the 1960s and their debut at Lakmè 2014 was a show stopping event.
This was an airy collection, which ranged from wearable, everyday casual clothes, all the way to sensual clubbing outfits.
There were assemblages like leather jackets with white peplum blouses and figure hugging sheath dresses. Hues like bright reds, stark blacks, and bright whites were combined with glittering sequins to achieve glamour.
Glamour was also created with faux fur, sequined short dresses, jumpsuits and black glittery gowns and cropped tops with mesh details and embellishment.
The incredible showstopper of this presentation was Elli Avram of Bigg Boss 7 who modelled a blood red evening dress which was fitted to the knee and then flared out into a beautiful trail made of net and set off with sequins.
These two presentations brought wearable, affordable style to the runway of Lakmè 2014 and they were a wonderful showcase for British high street fashion in India.
Jabong.com collaborated with River Island and Miss Selfridge to deliver these collections, and bring UK high street fashion to India.
Jabong.com is India’s leading fashion destination on the internet and will be providing these collections exclusively in India, to fashionistas all around the country.
To celebrate the first clothes designed for sale in India by River Island and Miss Selfridge, there were also preliminary glimpses of the garments for Mumbai fashion bloggers to start a social media campaign.
There were also candid behind the scenes photo shoots with the models and stylists which were catalogued by the Mumbai bloggers, after they had got a firsthand feel of the collection.
As well as these collections offering a range of wearable styles for Autumn and Winter, it is interesting to see that these labels are beginning to present their clothes in India.
With exclusive collections now available from River Island and Miss Selfridge to millions of Indian fashion lovers, it will be interesting to watch as British and Indian fashion continue to develop together, as West and East styles create an exciting fusion.
