The leader of Reform UK in Hampshire has been charged with 35 offences, including 12 counts of rape, relating to four victims over a 13-year period.

George Madgwick is accused of offences allegedly committed between 2008 and 2021 in Portsmouth and Wales, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) confirmed.

The charges include rape, sexual assault, controlling or coercive behaviour and making indecent images of a child. The four alleged victims were aged 16 and 17 at the time.

Reform UK said the 37-year-old had been suspended from the party “with immediate effect”. He is due to appear at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court on November 25.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said its investigation began on July 24, 2025, after it received a report of a sexual offence.

Madgwick was first arrested on January 6, 2026, before being charged by the CPS on November 3.

Madgwick, who lives in the Anchorage Park area of Portsmouth, faces 12 counts of rape, two counts of assault by penetration and two counts of sexual assault.

He has also been charged with two counts of making indecent images of children, two counts of controlling or coercive behaviour and eight counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The remaining charges comprise one count each of causing or inciting sexual exploitation of a child, distributing an indecent image of a child, stalking, making threats to kill, false imprisonment, theft and criminal damage.

A spokesperson for the CPS said: “Our prosecutors have worked to establish that there is sufficient evidence and that it is in the public interest to bring the case to court.

“We remind all concerned that proceedings against the defendant are now active and that he has the right to a fair trial.

“There should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information which could in any way prejudice these proceedings.”

Madgwick represents North East Havant on Hampshire County Council and Paulsgrove on Portsmouth City Council.

In October, he featured in an ITV News Exposure documentary, Undercover: A Year In Reform, following which he accused the broadcaster of “electoral interference”.

The programme showed Madgwick voicing support for anti-immigration group Portsmouth Patriots.

He subsequently issued a statement claiming the undercover reporters had potentially had an “impact on the result” of council elections.
