Indian badminton star PV Sindhu and several others are currently stranded in Dubai due to a major regional conflict.

The athlete was travelling for a tournament when flight operations were suddenly suspended across the region.

Airspace closures followed military strikes involving Iran, which left many international passengers grounded at the busy Dubai International Airport.

Major carriers like Emirates and Air India have cancelled numerous flights as the security situation continues to evolve rapidly.

Sindhu shared a video on her Instagram story showing large crowds of people waiting for updates from the local authorities.

The star player later released a statement expressing her gratitude for the messages of concern she received.

“To everyone who has been messaging and checking in, thank you, it truly means a lot.

“I am safe right now, stuck here in Dubai with my team, and we are doing okay as the situation around the war with Iran continues to evolve.

“The Airport is chaotic, with many families stranded and waiting, all of us just hoping we get past this soon.”

She described the terrifying experience of hearing interceptions overhead and seeing how quickly the entire situation had escalated recently.

“It’s hard to process what’s unfolding right now. Hearing the interceptions overhead and seeing how quickly everything has escalated is honestly terrifying.

“So many disturbing videos are coming to light, and this is sadly the reality of what is happening.

“Dubai is a city I deeply love, a place that has always felt safe and full of life, which makes this moment even harder to comprehend.

“Moments like these remind you how fragile normal life really is. Praying for safety and peace for everyone affected.”

Tensions rose significantly after an explosion occurred near the area where the Indian team was staying inside the airport.

Her coach had to run away from the smoke and debris after the blast happened very close to them. She recalled:

“It was an extremely tense and scary moment for all of us.”

“We are all safe now and have been moved to a more secure place, thanks to the tireless efforts of the staff at Dubai Airport and the Dubai authorities.”

Bollywood actor Sonal Chauhan is also stuck in the city and has appealed to the Indian government for help.

She tagged Prime Minister Narendra Modi on social media seeking urgent guidance and support for a safe return home.

“I am currently stranded in Dubai amid the ongoing crisis. Flights have been cancelled and no clear way to return to India.

“I would be deeply grateful for any assistance from the Government and guidance for a safe return.”

Other Indian athletes like Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty managed to reach Birmingham safely before the major strikes began.
