Sarkar threatened the actress via email a few times

Bengali actress Swastika Mukherjee has levelled very serious accusations against film producer Sandeep Sarkar.

Sandeep Sarkar is the co-producer of her Bengali film, Shibpur.

The actress claimed that Sarkar sent her emails containing morphed naked images of herself and even threatened to post them on pornographic websites.

Swastika Mukherjee shared the scanned email copies with officers when she filed a complaint at Golf Green Police Station and contacted the Eastern Indian Motion Films Association.

She said that the email included two altered, nude photographs.

The actress alleged Sandeep Sarkar sexually harassed her and sent her obscene images via email.

Swastika claimed that despite working on the same film, she had never met Sandeep Sarkar.

Swastika revealed that the film’s co-producer Ajanta Sinha Roy used to contact the cast and crew.

However, Sarkar threatened the actress via email a few times in March 2023.

According to reports, Sandeep Sarkar urged Swastika to assist the team while claiming to be an American citizen.

If she didn’t, he would check with the US Consulate to ensure that Swastika never received another US visa to work abroad.

After getting the email, the Qala actress ceased participating in any film promotion events.

Before receiving the email, the actress had filmed and dubbed the entire movie and had every intention of participating in promotional activities.

Shibpur, directed by Arindam Bhattacharya, was supposed to release in March 2023, and according to the actress, Swastika had emailed her available dates to the production house.

However, there was no response and the release date was moved forward without informing Swastika of the changes.

Swastika further asserted that she had received an email from Sandeep Sarkar’s friend Ravish Sharma, who claimed to be an expert hacker who could alter and morph images of her face onto naked bodies and send them to pornographic websites.

Speaking about the alleged threats, the film’s director, Arindam Bhattacharya, said:

“Heard about it. Creative disagreements are bound to happen in any field. That’s what happened in this case.

“I shouldn’t make any comments from the outside.”

Responding to claims that he told Swastika to file a complaint, Arindam added:

“This is a lie. I don’t believe in any negative publicity.

“And I will encourage an actress like Swastika!? Also, why will an actress suddenly complain without any reason?”

Meanwhile, Shouvik Basu Thakur, who represents the production company, said:

“I came to know about the matter only through the media.

“My client did nothing of the sort. If necessary, we will talk to the actress. If someone has done anything wrong, my client does not support it. We stand by the actress.”
