A police constable was arrested after trying to sexually assault a disabled beggar woman in Lahore’s Manawan area.
The incident, which took place on February 9, 2025, also left a bystander injured after the officer shot him when attempting to flee.
The ordeal began when Constable Amjad allegedly intercepted the woman on a deserted road.
Under the influence of alcohol, he dragged her to a nearby field, where she screamed for help.
Hearing her cries, a local resident named Sajid Ali rushed to the scene.
Seeing what was happening, he began recording the confrontation on his phone.
In a desperate attempt to silence Sajid, the constable pulled out his weapon and opened fire, shooting him in the leg.
Despite his injury, Sajid continued recording, capturing evidence that would later prove vital in holding the officer accountable.
His courage was widely praised, with many lauding him for risking his life to expose the crime.
As news of the attack spread, the public was outraged, demanding justice for the victim and severe punishment for the accused officer.
Many called for the death penalty for such crimes, while others highlighted the need for better protection and welfare for beggars, particularly women.
A user said: “Honestly, the death penalty. These guys are here to protect, not do this s**t.”
One commented: “9mm to this guy is the answer.”
Another wrote: “The police constable should be openly hanged in front of the public. Unless we start doing this, rape will forever be a problem.”
The police swiftly responded by arresting Amjad and registering a criminal case against him.
Lahore Operations DIG took immediate notice, suspending him from duty at Shafiqabad police station.
Authorities have assured that the case will be pursued with full force to ensure justice.
Despite this, many expressed concerns that powerful individuals often escape consequences.
Sceptics fear that despite public outrage, the officer might eventually walk free due to systemic corruption and weak legal enforcement.
A user said: “Watch bro get released without a single headline.”
Another commented: “Justice can’t be expected here unless the complainant is somebody rich. Our system has been hijacked by inbreeds.”
Meanwhile, due to numerous incidents of police brutality, calls for reforms and stricter measures to prevent abuse of power continue to grow.
