"When I refused, they beat me without any mercy"
In a horrific act of domestic abuse, a young woman was reportedly tortured by her in-laws in Lahore.
The victim, Sana Javed, was allegedly attacked after she refused to pressure her parents into giving more dowry.
Her husband, Anwar Mahmood, along with his father, Ghulam Hussain, are accused of subjecting her to extreme physical abuse.
According to the police, the two men kicked and punched her before slamming her head against a concrete wall.
She was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition, bleeding heavily and suffering multiple deep cuts on her head.
In a video circulating online, Sana was seen crying while recounting the brutal ordeal she experienced.
She said: “They wanted more money from my family. When I refused, they beat me without any mercy at all.”
Her face was visibly bruised, swollen, and covered in blood as she pleaded for justice through broken sentences and visible trauma.
Police have registered a case under charges of domestic abuse, acting on a formal complaint submitted by Sana’s uncle, Sohail.
Sana told officers this wasn’t the first demand made by her in-laws, but things turned violent when she stood firm.
She revealed: “They asked again and again. This time, I said no, and they began hitting me with full force.”
The clip has sparked widespread outrage on social media, where users are calling for immediate arrests and harsh punishment.
One user commented: “How many daughters must suffer like this before we ban dowry demands completely in this country?”
Another wrote: “This is attempted murder, not just domestic abuse. Throw both of them in jail.”
One said: “Day by day, Pakistan is becoming unlivable for women. Every day I open the news and there’s another woman suffering at the hands of these animals called ‘men.’”
Another remarked:
“And this, my friends, is why we would rather choose the bear.”
Activists and women’s rights advocates say Sana’s case reflects a pattern of abuse many women endure due to dowry pressure.
They are demanding that the Punjab government offer legal, medical, and psychological support to Sana during her recovery process.
Meanwhile, police say both suspects are under investigation and will be arrested if the medical report confirms Sana’s injuries.
Sana’s battered face has become a haunting image online, once again exposing the cruelty women face within their own homes in Pakistan.
Her case serves as yet another urgent reminder that laws alone aren’t enough unless enforced with seriousness and zero tolerance.
