Renowned singer Naseebo Lal has withdrawn a police case against her husband, Naveed Hussain, after initially accusing him of physical assault.

It happened at the couple’s residence in Lahore. The case, which sparked widespread attention, was registered following an incident in Shahdara Town.

The singer claimed she was verbally abused and then struck in the face with a brick.

According to the police report, the altercation occurred on March 14, 2025, when Hussain returned home and allegedly began shouting at Naseebo Lal.

The confrontation escalated when he picked up a nearby brick and hit her, causing injuries to her nose and the left side of her face.

Following the attack, the singer filed a First Information Report (FIR) under Section 345 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

The section deals with assault on a woman with the intent to outrage her modesty.

The police launched an investigation and confirmed that efforts were underway to arrest the accused.

However, in a sudden turn of events, Naseebo Lal decided to withdraw her complaint.

Her brother, Shahid Lal, stated that disagreements between the couple were common but had never escalated to this level before.

He added that the couple has now reconciled, with Hussain assuring the family that such violence would not happen again.

This decision has sparked debate, with some questioning whether social and familial pressures influenced Naseebo Lal’s withdrawal.

Born on January 10, 1970, in Chishtian, Naseebo Lal is one of Pakistan’s most celebrated folk singers, known for her powerful and emotive voice.

Over the years, she has captivated audiences with her contributions to Punjabi music and has continued to be a significant figure in the industry.

The case has once again highlighted the issue of domestic violence in Pakistan.

Many victims either hesitate to report abuse or later withdraw complaints due to societal norms and familial pressures.

In January 2025, Pakistani actress Nargis also withdrew a domestic violence case against her husband, Inspector Majid Bashir.

The actress announced that she had forgiven him. The case was initially filed in November 2024 after she accused him of physical abuse.

Similarly, in July 2024, anchor-person Ayesha Jahanzeb dropped her domestic abuse case against her husband, choosing reconciliation after reaching an agreement.

While reconciliation remains a personal choice, the broader issue of domestic violence continues to be a serious concern.
