A domestic dispute in Multan’s Jalilabad area took a horrifying turn when a man threw acid on his wife and two stepsons.

The victims, identified as Khadija Bano and her two sons, sustained severe burns in the attack, prompting immediate police action.

The incident came to light when Khadija’s brother, Farhan Ikhlaq, filed an FIR on February 17, 2025.

He was informed by a family member that someone had thrown acid on his sister and her children.

Farhan rushed to the scene along with his brother, Nasir Iqbal, and found Khadija’s face burning.

He recounted that there was smoke rising from her hair due to the acid.

The room was filled with fumes, and another woman was trying to pour water on her to alleviate the pain.

Farhan and his brother immediately helped their sister and her children by pouring water on them and changing their acid-soaked clothes.

Khadija’s sons revealed that their stepfather, Muhammad Majid, was behind the attack and had fled the house after throwing acid at them.

Farhan then contacted the police and emergency services, and Rescue 1122 teams arrived at the scene shortly after.

First aid was provided to the victims before they were transported to Nishtar Hospital for further medical treatment.

Officials confirmed that Khadija suffered burns on her face and head due to the attack.

According to the FIR registered at Jalilabad Police Station, Farhan stated that Majid frequently argued with Khadija.

He claimed that his sister’s husband wanted to return to his first wife, leading to ongoing tensions.

Farhan alleged that Muhammad attacked Khadija and her sons.

Acid attacks remain a disturbing issue in Pakistan, particularly targeting women in cases of domestic disputes, rejected marriage proposals, and financial disagreements.

Between 2007 and 2018, at least 1,485 cases were reported, leading to the enactment of the Acid and Burn Crime Bill in 2018.

The legislation introduced strict punishments, including life imprisonment and heavy fines, which contributed to a notable decline in acid-related crimes.

However, despite legal measures, such incidents continue to occur.

In September 2024, three women in Rohillanwali were attacked with acid.

In the same month, another woman suffered burns in a revenge attack by her former husband’s family.

Authorities in Multan have launched an investigation into Majid’s whereabouts, with efforts underway to bring him to justice.
