A shocking medical scandal has emerged from a hospital in Lahore where female doctors were caught betting on C-section surgeries.

The provincial authorities have promptly sacked four medical professionals after a disturbing video of their unethical behaviour went viral.

Dr Tayyaba Fatima Toor, Dr Maham Ameen, Dr Zainab Tahir, and Dr Ayesha Afzal face serious disciplinary legal actions.

These individuals were found engaging in a competitive betting race while performing critical C-section procedures on female patients.

The doctors reportedly challenged each other to see who could complete the surgical delivery of the newborn infants first.

One doctor was heard saying: “Let’s see which of the two will complete the C-section first.”

The group even appointed a referee to observe the side-by-side procedures as if it were a sport.

Hospital staff members were seen making victory signs while the mothers and their babies were in a vulnerable state.

The health department stated that these actions constitute a grave violation of medical ethics and an insult to dignity.

Such unprofessional conduct is strictly prohibited under government rules and the standard operating procedures of the medical facility itself.

The privacy of the female patients was completely ignored while the surgical team recorded the entire event on mobile.

This heinous incident has sparked widespread criticism across Pakistan from both the general public and prominent digital content creators.

Concerns have been raised regarding the use of mobile phones inside sensitive areas like the gynecology operation theater recently.

Several popular doctor influencers have spoken out against the unethical behaviour of their colleagues involved in this specific case.

Dr Javed Iqbal, Dr Affan Qaiser, and Dr Bisma have all publicly slammed the actions of the suspended women.

Dr Javed Iqbal emphasised that a surgeon needs to be competent rather than focusing on the speed of surgery.

He said: “It is strictly prohibited and unethical as doctors to breach patients’ privacy or to indulge in such activities like betting in operation theatre.

“Most importantly, a surgeon should keep one thing in mind that he doesn’t need to be speedy but competent.”

Dr Affan Qaiser noted that the environment in an operating theatre should always remain professional and comfortable for everyone.

“The environment at operation theatre is always comfortable, friendly and professional, but not the one we saw in that specific video.”

The recorded video went viral on various social media platforms, leading to immediate public outrage and condemnation.

Both the lives of the mothers and their newborns were endangered by this reckless competition among the medical staff.
