They may be a happily married couple but Nick Jonas revealed that Priyanka Chopra was left “upset” at the end of their first date.
In an interview, Nick explained what he did to leave Priyanka upset and his reason for it.
Their relationship started when Nick sent the actress a direct message on Twitter in September 2016.
It read: “I’m hearing from a few mutual friends that we should meet.”
Priyanka told him that her team can see the messages and advised him to contact her on her phone instead.
After months of exchanging flirtatious messages, Nick and Priyanka met for a drink, a week before they arrived together at the 2017 Met Gala.
Following their date, Priyanka invited him to her home where her mother, Madhu Chopra, was watching television in her nightgown.
Priyanka revealed: “We hung out for a couple of hours… he patted my back before he left.”
Nick added: “There was no kiss. There was nothing.”
Priyanka was left in disbelief at the back pat. Despite being married, Nick said:
“She’s still upset about that.”
He then revealed that he did not kiss her as her mother was in the house. He said:
“Your mom was in the house! I thought it was a respectful first night.”
Priyanka jokingly replied: “It was too respectful if you ask me.”
At the Vanity Fair Oscars party in 2017, Nick Jonas expressed his love for Priyanka in a room full of people.
He got down on one knee and said: “And I put my drink down, get on one knee – this is in front of a bunch of people – and I say, ‘You’re real. Where have you been all my life?’ Like, loud.”
Meanwhile, Nick’s brother Joe said that he and his fiance Sophie Turner laughed at him seeing how smitten he was with her.
Joe said: “He’s sitting on the floor. And Sophie and I were just laughing at him. We’re like, look at this little smitten, drunk kid right now.”
Nick realised he wanted to marry Priyanka on their third date. He called his mother to tell her.
On a trip to Greece, Nick proposed to Priyanka. He recalled:
“I got down on one knee, again, and I said: Will you make me the happiest man in the world and marry me? No joke, she took about 45 seconds. Forty-five seconds of silence.”
When Priyanka did not say anything, Nick told her:
“I’m going to put this ring on your finger now unless you have any objections.”
The couple got married in two ceremonies in December 2018.
They have been spending time living in Los Angeles and on September 16, 2020, Priyanka wished her husband a happy birthday.
Priyanka shared a compilation of her husband and wrote:
“So grateful you were born. Happy birthday my love.”
