"What I do at night should not be anyone’s concern."
TV star and politician Navjot Singh Sidhu defended his right to appear on TV shows such as The Kapil Sharma Show. He claimed he needs to “earn a living” and therefore still took part in the latest episode on 26th March 2017.
His comments come as part of the on-going developments about Kapil Sharma’s troubled show.
Navjot Singh Sidhu is no stranger to the headlines. Now his regular appearances on The Kapil Sharma Show might not seem a big deal, but Sidhu is also a Minister. As Minister of three portfolios, some might argue he should focus on them.
The Chief Minister of Punjab, Captain Amarinder Singh, has also questioned whether the politician should indulge in his regular TV project.
He said: “We will have to ask our advocate general to give us an opinion whether a person who is a minister can do what he wants to do.
“It will entirely depend on the legal opinion and then I will bring it to Navjot Singh Sidhu’s notice.”
But Navjot Singh Sidhu released a statement, saying: “I earn a living through TV shows and I will be in Chandigarh from Monday to Thursday and in Amritsar from Friday to Sunday.
“What I do at night should not be anyone’s concern. I will take first flight back to Punjab after TV shoots in Mumbai.”
He also has the backing of his wife, Kaur Sidhu, as she commented on the matter. On Facebook, she said:
“We have no other business or source of income except television. He has left 80 per cent of shows, which included IPL, commentary, etc.
“Shooting for two shows (of the comedy show) takes only five hours a week and that also mostly on Saturday night. I think it is a meagre time for a non-socially active God-fearing workaholic[sic].”
Therefore, the politician appeared on the 26th March 2017’s episode of The Kapil Sharma Show. It also marked as the first episode since the Kapil/Grover flight incident and its aftermath.
After losing the likes of Sunil Grover, DESIblitz is certain Kapil Sharma feels relieved that Navjot Singh Sidhu remains defiant to appear on his show.
