A little bundle of joy has finally arrived for Mindy…Lahiri!
Mindy and Danny Castellano (Chris Messina) welcome their first child in the most recent episode of The Mindy Project, aired on September 22, 2015.
The lovebirds got engaged in the previous episode and now welcome to the world their little baby Leo.
The episode sees a heavily pregnant Dr. Lahiri, caught in New York transit tunnel, just as her water breaks.
The pressure is on for nurse Morgan (Ike Barinholtz) and the Deslaurier midwives to help her through!
Danny is seen running through the city, desperate to make it in time to witness the birth of his child.
Mindy speaks of her character: “She’s a great mom. We’ve written her as an incredibly fierce, loving mom.”
The popular show revolves around Mindy, a self-obsessed and eccentric woman who is always in a pickle.
Yet, with a baby to care for, will we see a drastic transformation for Dr. Lahiri?
Mindy, as writer and producer, explains: “A lot of people have been questioning how a baby will change the dynamic, and honestly, if anything it’s given her surprising depth as an actress to now play.”
It also means that Mindy would have to love something more than herself and Danny to tame his temper. Is this even possible?
Executive producer, Matt Warbuton, says: “What it does is really, to the extent that they’ve kind of dealt with what’s annoying to each other about themselves, it brings it all out to the front again.
“It allows them to be their most selves for good and for bad.”
Apparently, Lahiri already has big plans for her little prince, as she says: “She wants to be a stage mom!”
We can’t wait to see how The Mindy Project will pan out with its newest arrival!
