Meghan Markle has been accused of being “incredibly rude” to her close friend Mindy Kaling on her new Netflix show.
With Love, Meghan is now out but one moment left viewers unhappy.
Social media users criticised the Duchess of Sussex for appearing to pretend not to understand Mindy after she pronounced “look” as “lewk”.
The moment came when Mindy complimented Meghan’s appearance, saying:
“By the way Meghan, I want to ask about your look.”
Meghan replied: “My who?”
Repeating herself, The Office star said: “Your lewk. Your look, Meghan!
“Did I not say it right?”
Meghan smiled and said: “I don’t know. Mindy, you’re way cooler than I am. I don’t know what you were talking [about]. My lewk. She likes my lewk. Oh my gosh.”
Although the pair shared a laugh, viewers did not see the funny side, with many calling Meghan’s reaction “mean girl behaviour”.
One commented: “Watching Meghan literally humiliate Mindy over that small mispronunciation and go on about it instead of laughing and shrugging it off was really triggering for me.”
Another wrote: “Humiliating her so-called friend. Definite mean girl behaviour.”
A third added: “Yes, I noticed the same thing… I can’t believe they actually aired that.”
One person even claimed that Meghan seemed “annoyed” by Mindy.
However, others didn’t see anything wrong and said it was merely two friends joking about.
One viewer said: “Meghan was teasing her saying I’m not as cool as you are I don’t know that term. I watched the episode just for this part.”
Another commented: “It’s a dialect thing. I try not to but I say lewk. I just laughed with them.”

The exchange followed an awkward moment when Meghan Markle corrected Mindy Kaling, saying her surname is Sussex, not Markle.
The Duchess of Sussex said:
“It’s so funny you keep saying Meghan Markle, you know I’m Sussex now.”
Mindy looked confused as Meghan explained:
“You have kids and you go ‘No, I share my name with my children’.
“I didn’t know how meaningful it would be to me but it just means so much to go ‘This is our family name. Our little family name’.”
After being corrected, Mindy responded: “Well, now I know and I love it.”
Mindy Kaling, whose parents immigrated to the US from India, grew up speaking only English.
She previously said: “I was raised speaking English only because my parents spoke two different Indian languages, so the only language we all had in common was English.”
But for Ocean’s 8, she had to learn Hindi.
