"The film would not be complete without him."
In her impressive career, one film that Kareena Kapoor Khan is particularly loved for is Jab We Met (2007).
The film was directed by Imtiaz Ali and starred Kareena as Geet Kaur Dhillon Kashyap.
Kareena’s act as Geet became iconic for her gregarious performance and joyful persona in the film.
For Jab We Met, Kareena Kapoor Khan won the 2008 Filmfare Award for ‘Best Actress’.
The movie also starred Shahid Kapoor as Aditya Dharamraj Kashyap.
Shahid also garnered acclaim for the way he underplayed his role.
Kareena and Shahid were dating each other in the mid-2000s and broke up during the filming of Jab We Met.
Since their break-up, the pair have remained on cordial terms but have been noted to avoid each other in public.
At the 2024 Dadasaheb Phalke Awards, Kareena was criticised for seemingly ignoring Shahid.
However, in a recent interview, Kareena Kapoor Khan heaped praise on Shahid for doing a “fabulous” job in Jab We Met.
She said: “Geet is the quintessential Indian film actress. That’s it. And especially with me.
“But Geet was aspirational, and everybody wanted to have that life and be like her.
“When I watch Jab We Met today, I am like, ‘It’s such a special film’.
“Geet also bounced off Aditya’s character.
“I would definitely like to thank the fact that Shahid did such a fabulous job. We bounced off each other’s energy.
“The film would not be complete without him, for sure.”
After breaking up with Shahid, Kareena married her frequent co-star Saif Ali Khan in 2012.
Meanwhile, Shahid Kapoor married Mira Rajput in 2015.
In September 2024, Kareena was honoured with a Film Festival tribute.
This was to commemorate her 25 years in the industry.
Her previous films were shown to the audience to celebrate her career.
Similar festivals have been held to honour actors including Dilip Kumar, Dev Anand, and Amitabh Bachchan.
Kareena was last seen in The Buckingham Murders. The film has currently earned over Rs 12 crores (£10 million) at the box office.
Speaking about the film, Kareena said: “The film is very special to all of us. Today, language does not matter.
“It is not important what language you’re making a film in. What matters is, what you’re making.
“Watch what we have made. We have done this with our hearts.”
Kareena Kapoor Khan will next be seen in Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again.
Meanwhile, Shahid Kapoor has Deva on the cards.
