Kareena Kapoor Khan’s contribution to Indian cinema over the past 25 years has left a permanent mark on Bollywood.
As she celebrated 25 years in the film industry, plans were underway to honour her remarkable career with a special film festival.
The festival will serve as a tribute to her significant contributions to Indian cinema, recognising her enduring influence and versatility as an actress.
This film festival will be the first for an Indian actress. Male actors including Dilip Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan have had similar honours.
The event will take place in multiple cities and will showcase Kareena Kapoor Khan’s journey in film.
Fans will have the chance to see some of her most popular movies on the big screen once again.
News of the festival coincided release of The Buckingham Murders. It is a crime thriller that also marks Kareena’s debut as a producer.
The film was released on September 13, 2024. It reunited Ekta R Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan following their collaborations on Veere Di Wedding (2018) and Crew (2024).
The Buckingham Murders gained attention before its release, premiering at the BFI London Film Festival and the Mumbai Film Festival 2023.
Kareena shared a special post on the day the film was released.
Along with some behind-the-scenes photos, she wrote a heartfelt message in the caption and expressed her emotions about the project.
She said: “As an actor, it’s the choices one makes and I am very proud of this choice.
“Please watch this story and dive into my world of crime and drama.
“A dream I have always had to act in or produce one.
“But here, I got the best of both worlds.”

Hansal Mehta directed The Buckingham Murders.
Kareena Kapoor Khan portrayed detective Jasmeet Bhamra, who works on the case of a missing child.
Ranveer Brar, Ash Tandon, Assad Raja, and Prabhleen Sandhu also starred in the film.
Kareena’s husband – Saif Ali Khan – said that he was excited to see the film.
In a chat with Zoom, Saif mentioned: “I’m really looking forward to The Buckingham Murders.
“I’ve been busy promoting my own film, Devara.
“From what I’ve seen so far, I think she’s done an amazing job.
“I wish the team all the best.”
On the work front, Kareena Kapoor Khan will next be seen in Singham Again, directed by Rohit Shetty. The film is scheduled to be released during Diwali 2024.
