Kareena Kapoor faces Backlash for Pics with Pakistani Designer

Kareena Kapoor Khan has come under sharp criticism after photographs of her with Pakistani designer Faraz Manan in Dubai began circulating online.

The backlash comes amid tensions between India and Pakistan following an attack in Kashmir’s Pahalgam area that saw 26 tourists killed.

Kareena was photographed at Mumbai airport on April 27 en route to Dubai.

It was her second visit to the city this month.

Images from a private meet-up with Faraz Manan, a long-time friend and collaborator, triggered a wave of criticism, largely due to the timing and Manan’s nationality.

Social media users accused the actor of being insensitive, given the recent attack.

One commenter wrote: “Bollywood is mostly ruled by scam artists.”

Another posted: “Fame is everything for her. Country doesn’t feature anywhere.”

A third added: “Country is nothing for them, they can shift anywhere in the world coz they have so much money.”

One comment read: “Bollywood has repeatedly revealed where its true loyalties lie.

“Attention, sensationalism, fame and money is all that matters.

“High time people recognised this and stopped investing their valuable time and hard-earned money into their shallow content passed off as art and entertainment.

“These so-called celebrities are not role models; they are products of a system driven by vanity and profit. It’s up to the audience to break free from this illusion.”

An angry user commented: “These Bollywood stars are disgraceful and need to be boycotted.”

Some suggested Bollywood stars chase fame and fortune, even at the cost of public sentiment.

Others said her timing of the pictures was poor, especially considering heightened tensions between India and Pakistan following the attack.

Her association with Faraz Manan is not new. The two have worked together for years, and their friendship has been well-documented.

In a past interview, the designer recalled: “I recall when we did our very first shoot together in Jaipur, we were both scheduled to leave for home the very next day.

“Just before boarding, we both realised that we wanted to stay back for another day, relax and indulge in Rajasthani food.

“So we did. And that’s how we became friends from day one.”

He also noted that he began working with Karisma Kapoor before Kareena, saying:

“It only felt natural to start working with Kareena, given how similar the sisters-duo’s taste was.”
