Kareena Kapoor released her Pregnancy Bible but the book has now come under fire for allegedly hurting religious sentiments.
The book was co-authored by Kareena and Aditi Shah Bhimjyani.
It is a guide for expectant mothers throughout their pregnancy, which includes diet, self-care, preparing the nursery and what to take to hospital.
Kareena also details what she experienced throughout both her pregnancies, from her intense morning sickness to her craving for pepperoni pizza.
However, a Christian group is not happy with the book.
According to a police official, the group filed a complaint against Kareena and two others in the city of Beed, Maharashtra.
The group has accused the actress and the two others of hurting religious sentiments.
Alpha Omega Christian Mahasangh president Ashish Shinde filed the complaint at Shivaji Nagar Police Station.
In the complaint, Ashish referred to the book’s title, saying the word ‘Bible’ has been used.
This has subsequently hurt the religious sentiments of Christians.
Ashish has sought the registration of a case under the Indian Penal Code section 295-A (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs) against the actress and the two others.
A police official confirmed that a complaint had been received but no FIR has been registered as of yet.
Inspector Sainath Thombre, officer-in-charge at Shivaji Nagar Police Station, said:
“We have received the complaint but no case can be registered here as the incident has not happened here (in Beed).
“I have advised him to file a complaint in Mumbai.”
Kareena launched the book on July 9, 2021. Calling it her third child, she shared several social media posts to promote her book.
The complaint comes shortly after the name of her second child was revealed.
She and Saif Ali Khan welcomed another son in February 2021 and have largely kept him away from the public eye.
Kareena revealed the first picture of her son on May 9. The picture showed eldest son Taimur cradling his little brother, whose face was covered slightly by his hands.
It was reported that they had named their son Jeh. This was later confirmed by her father Randhir Kapoor.
On the acting front, Kareena Kapoor will next be seen in the Aamir Khan epic Laal Singh Chaddha.
