Bollywood actor Amit Sadh has shockingly revealed that he tried to take his own life four times between the ages 16 and 18.

The Kai Po Che! star opened up about a time in his life where he felt depressed constantly.

Amit went on to say that after the fourth suicide attempt, he believed it was time to overcome any fears and face life head-on.

The actor explained that it was not an easy process as it took 20 years to overcome.

In an interview with Mens XP, he said: “I didn’t overcome it all in one day – took me 20 years! I just found one thing for sure – this is not the end.

“I feel blessed and fortunate that I’m on the other side of the white light.

“Now I have a lot of compassion, love, and empathy for people who become weak.”

Amit continued: “There must be so many people who commit suicide but there are so many more people who contemplate or have thoughts about committing suicide on some dark day.

“For me, what marks real strength is to come out of it.”

Amit Sadh had starred in Kai Po Che! alongside Sushant Singh Rajput. The film went on to become a hit.

On June 14, 2020, Sushant was tragically found dead at his Mumbai home. It was initially said that he committed suicide, however, there were claims he was murdered.

Multiple cases were registered and agencies like the CBI, NCB among others, as well as the Mumbai Police. This led to several arrests, which included Sushant’s girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty.

Her arrest resulted in another investigation into the links between Bollywood and drugs. Soon, Bollywood stars like Deepika Padukone and Sara Ali Khan were called for questioning.

However, in October 2020, a report by AIIMS said he took his own life.

Amit said that post-Sushant’s death, people have been discussing the subject of depression.

Speaking about his former co-star’s death, Amit previously said:

“I think the industry has changed post Coronavirus and is also affected by his death.”

“I hope we are affected by it because if we are not affected with it we are not human beings and if we aren’t humans then we shouldn’t be telling stories about humans.”

On the work front, Amit was last seen in Shakuntala Devi, which starred Vidya Balan and Sanya Malhotra. The 2020 film was released on Amazon Prime Video.

Amit was also last seen in the web series Breathe: Into the Shadows.
