"it is okay that it all ended before."
Internet personality Jannat Mirza revealed why she called off her engagement.
Appearing on Ahmad Ali Butt’s Excuse Me podcast, Jannat explained why she ended her engagement with Umer Butt and also shared insights into her evolving perspective on relationships and marriage.
Stating that the decision was not made lightly, she said:
“I think I was not ready for the breakup; why would I be ready for such a thing? But yes, I was not afraid of it, I was happy after that.
“The thing that could happen in the future has happened before.
“I think calling off a Nikkah or marriage hurts more so it is okay that it all ended before.”
Elaborating on the decision, she revealed that the choice to part ways was the result of two years of contemplation.
She also claimed that it was a mutual decision with Umer.
Recognising that the relationship was not sustainable, they made a collective decision to move on, prioritising their individual well-being.
Highlighting her views on marriage, Jannat said she prefers a traditional route.
“Arranged marriages have more charm. In my past relationship, I could see multiple issues.
“There were things that couldn’t be ignored, especially regarding marriage because it happens for a lifetime.”
She also said she no longer believes in giving second chances in relationships, though she was more forgiving in the past.
Jannat remarked:
“I don’t believe in giving a second chance now, previously, I was quite forgiving.”
Meanwhile, Umer appeared to taunt Jannat Mirza following her comments.
He posted on Instagram: “My parents raised me well that’s why I don’t talk about anyone. I don’t want to do cheap publicity stunts, May Allah keep you happy in life.”
Jannat Mirza also responded to Syed Noor’s remarks concerning the performance of her debut movie Tere Bajre Di Rakhi.
She said: “Well, I think the script of the movie was a bit weak. Let me tell you, Syed Noor is my uncle, and I hold him in high regard.
“That movie was a good experience for me; I did it with my parents’ permission. I don’t understand why he made those comments.”
Reflecting on her decision to venture into acting.
“I took on the movie because I wanted to explore acting in films.
“The story that was narrated to me seemed promising, but unfortunately, the end result fell short of expectations.”
“It was my debut, and I did not do my homework.
“The male lead, who also debuted in this film, came from Canada. Watching the final product left me disappointed.”
Acknowledging the importance of a compelling script in the success of a film, Jannat Mirza emphasised the necessity of an engaging storyline.
She admitted: “I realise now the significance of thoroughly evaluating a script before committing to a project. It’s essential for a movie to resonate with the audience.
“Even established actors like Shah Rukh Khan face challenges when the script is not up to par.
“The success of a film ultimately hinges on the strength of its narrative.”
