An Indian mother in Kaithal, Haryana, has been accused of allegedly poisoning her daughter-in-law at her son’s behest.
The accused Tulsi Devi and her son Rajendra have been accused of poisoning daughter-in-law Shalu on December 24, 2020.
The 37-year-old victim was a private school teacher in the Gandhi Nagar Colony of Kaithal, Haryana.
Shalu had been unhappily married to Rajendra for 14 years.
The couple also has a 10-year-old child.
Shalu’s father, Krishnalal attests that his daughter was tormented and abused in her marriage to Rajendra.
He claimed that her husband and mother-in-law had demanded a car for his daughter’s dowry.
However, as he has 2 other daughters he was only able to provide a bike.
It is alleged that the mother-in-law and son duo frequently demanded money from the victim.
Krishnalal himself alleges he sent the money to his daughter’s husband and mother-in-law as frequently as he was able as per his financial status.
Even all their efforts Krishnalal claims Shalu had often confessed to him that she was treated abhorently by her husband and mother-in-law.
Krishnalal went on to claim that Rajendra had an illicit affair with another woman in 2017, which further ruined his daughter’s marriage to him.
He alleged that his daughter underwent bypass surgery in 2019, for which he was demanded to pay Rs 3.5 lakh (£3,500).
The father went on to report that on December 24, 2020, he received a call from his grandson, attesting that his daughter had fallen on the floor.
The grandson’s video called him saying that Shalu was lying on the floor with foam coming out of her mouth.
It was alleged that Shalu had drunk poisoned milk, given to her by her mother-in-law at the behest of her son.
Krishnalal reached his daughter’s residence as soon as he got the information.
He alleges that he reached her residence at two o’clock in the morning to find his daughter lying dead in the courtyard of the house.
He reports there was foam was coming out of her nose and mouth.
Krishnalal filed an FIR (First Incident Report) with the Haryana police against his son-in-law and his mother for conspiracy to murder.
Shalu’s body was sent to her father after the post-mortem for funeral rites.
The police have stated they are investigating the matter further, however, no arrests have been announced.
