she is said to have fallen in love with a 30-year-old man
A 15-year-old Indian girl is said to have married a 30-year-old man in secret.
The teenager ran away from her home in Jaitsar, Rajasthan, to wed the man.
It was reported that the matter has been presented before the court after it was revealed that the girl claimed she was 18.
In addition, her husband was presented before the court for allegedly kidnapping the teenager.
The girl had run away from her home on February 22, 2021, and went to stay with her grandmother in Hanumangarh.
During her stay, she is said to have fallen in love with a 30-year-old man from another caste living in the area.
The pair travelled to Sirsa, Haryana, and reportedly got married.
The girl’s parents soon found out about the marriage and her father filed a case against the man, accusing him of kidnap.
Police registered a case and eventually found the pair.
The accused man was presented before the court where he handed over their wedding certificate.
He then said his wife claimed to be 18, presenting a school mark sheet.
On the document, it stated that the Indian girl was 18-years-old but in actual fact, she was only 15.
Police believe that a fake mark sheet was created, therefore, they have requested a factual report from the Superintendent’s office about the girl.
Jaitsar Police Station officers have taken the teenager’s mark sheet for further analysis.
Both the Indian girl and her husband were handed over to police.
The girl was later presented in front of the Child Welfare Committee. The girl refused to return home. As a result, she was provided with shelter.
Meanwhile, the accused man was taken into custody.
The man has been booked under the section of kidnapping as well as the POCSO Act.
Police are currently working to record the teenager’s statement on the matter.
Following her report, further action will be taken.
However, officers have taken into account that the teenager may have created a fake mark sheet in order to conceal her age so that she could marry the man.
There have been numerous marriage cases in India that have raised eyebrows.
In one case, a bride married one of her guests after her husband-to-be ran away.
Naveen and his to-be bride Sindhu reportedly took part in pre-wedding rituals on January 2, 2021.
However, on the day of the wedding, Naveen ran away.
It was later revealed that he had a girlfriend named Tumakuru and that she threatened to take her own life.
Tumakuru had alleged that she would drink poison in front of the guests if he went through with the wedding.
Naveen decided to run away with his girlfriend and left his bride-to-be.
Sindhu was left embarrassed, heartbroken and inconsolable but her family resolved to find her a groom right there and were able to find a suitable match within the guest list itself.
A guest named Chandrappa, who works as a BMC bus conductor, volunteered to marry her if both the families agreed to their union.
The day ended with Sindhu marrying Chandrappa.
