They regularly spoke to each other on Facebook
An Austrian woman named Toulasi got married to an Indian man, Sandeep, who she had met while in Goa.
It was a case of becoming friends and staying in touch with each other on social media. Their constant interactions with each other eventually turned to love.
They were married in Sandeep’s hometown of Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh, in India.
Toulasi first met Sandeep sometime in 2017 when she went on holiday to Goa with her friends.
She and her friends stayed in a hotel where Sandeep worked and the two became friends.
Both Sandeep and Toulasi had the same things in common including the fact that both of them have a diploma in hotel management.
Although Toulasi stayed in Goa for a few days, she exchanged her contact details with Sandeep and the two stayed in touch.
They regularly spoke to each other on Facebook after she went back to Austria. Their friendship continued to increase.
Toulasi’s growing bond towards Sandeep was evident as she booked another trip to Goa in late 2018, this time with her family.
They stayed in the same hotel where Sandeep worked and the two spoke again. Sandeep also got to meet her family.
After spending a few days at the hotel, Toulasi and her family returned to their home in Austria but that did not stop her and Sandeep from continuing their long-distance relationship.
As they continued speaking to one another, their relationship turned into a romantic one and both the Indian man and Austrian woman admitted that to each other.
Six months after her second trip to Goa, Sandeep proposed to Toulasi.
After speaking to her parents about the marriage proposal, she then said yes.
Sandeep had also spoken with his parents prior to the proposal and they gave their blessing.
The wedding was organised with the help of Rajasthan-based wedding management company Parinay Sutra Events.
Sandeep and Toulasi had a lavish wedding ceremony during the festival of Navaratri. Both sets of families have said that they are happy.
Long-distance relationships are possible thanks to social media.
Another instance involved an American woman marrying a Punjabi man after they got to know each other on Facebook.
Amini Wollin had sent a friend request to Pawan Kumar sometime in January 2019 and the two spoke with each for hours.
Their friendship soon turned to love and it was Amini who proposed when she visited him in Amristar.
The couple had a traditional wedding and Amini plans to move to Amritsar so she can be with Pawan.
