"This is an unjust decision."

Ranveer Singh’s 83 was released on OTT platforms on March 22, 2022, and all cricket enthusiasts have since been streaming the adaptation of India’s win in the 1983 World Cup.

As the film trends on Pakistani Netflix, a particular scene has caught the attention of viewers, leaving many, amused.

The said scene depicts an interaction between the Indian cricket team captain, Kapil Dev and the skipper Imran Khan.

While Pakistanis loved the warm encounter, they couldn’t help but crack jokes about the younger version of their current Prime Minister.

Sharing a picture of the actor playing Khan in the Bollywood film, a user took to Twitter and shared:

“Imran Khan’s appearance in India’s 83 movie is so embarrassing. This is an unjust decision.”

Another user shared that they are “personally offended” and called the casting choice a “real crime” against the PM.

Another chimed in and said that they “might have screamed” after seeing Imran Khan in the cricket drama.

However, regardless of the representation, they were proud of seeing the cricketer avatar of the politician in the film.

The sports drama sees Ranveer Singh play Kapil Dev as he leads India to its first World Cup in 1983.

83 also stars Deepika Padukone as Kapil’s wife Romi Dev.

The film is directed by Kabir Khan and was released on December 24, 2021.

Then-Indian cricket team captain Kapil Dev recently shared his reaction to the film.

Speaking to Gaurav Kapur, the ace cricketer shared that while 83 did not impact him much the first time he watched it, he couldn’t stop crying the second time, and had to leave mid-way the third time the film played on-screen.

Kapil said: “The first time I saw it, I was like okay this is a film. It did not really impact me.

“The second time became very emotional.

“I couldn’t believe our lives have been transpired so beautifully on screen. All these years I thought Bhaag Milkha Bhaag was the ultimate sports film but I was so touched with 83.

“I actually walked out of the theatre the third time, I was supposed to watch it.”

He shared that the moment became very emotional for everyone as they saw their journey being played out.

He also revealed that post the screening, they all partied together and it felt like they were celebrating their World Cup win once again:

“Back then we were worried who will pay for us. At least now we knew someone would.”
