Cricketer Imad Wasim stunned followers by announcing his remarriage through an Instagram statement.
The announcement arrived barely weeks after he publicly confirmed filing for divorce from his first wife, Sannia Ashfaq.
In a lengthy note, Wasim framed the past year as one of profound personal upheaval and emotional reckoning.
He wrote: “I went through one of the hardest chapters of my life after a marriage that did not work.”
He followed the reflection by centring his children, calling them the greatest blessing to emerge from that union.
“I love them beyond words, and that love will never change.”
Wasim admitted he had delayed making difficult decisions, saying he stayed longer than he should have.
“I stayed longer than I should have, holding on to hope and trying to protect what mattered most to me.”
The cricketer accepted responsibility for what he described as collateral damage caused by his silence and indecision.
“My delay and silence contributed to a situation where an innocent person was unfairly judged.”
He went on to express remorse, saying he carried that weight sincerely and without deflection.
In the same post, Wasim revealed he had now married Nyla Raja, describing the decision as deliberate.
“With the grace of Allah and the guidance of my parents, I have married Nyla.”
He characterised the marriage as one built on peace, stability and mutual respect rather than impulse.
“Nyla has brought calm, dignity and strength into my life.”
Despite the new chapter, he stressed that fatherhood remained central to his identity and daily concerns.
He also revealed that despite his efforts, he was currently unable to see his children.
“My only wish is to be actively and meaningfully involved in their lives.”
Wasim concluded by urging the public to respect privacy, writing: “Not everything needs to be debated publicly.”
However, the announcement triggered an immediate and intense response from his former wife, Sannia Ashfaq.
Ashfaq shared a video of Wasim’s wedding on Instagram, claiming it confirmed long-held allegations against him.
“Now everyone has seen the proof. This homewrecker never once thought about my kids.”
She accused Wasim of betrayal, adding: “The cheater has finally been exposed and I want justice.”

Ashfaq also publicly criticised Nyla’s family, writing: “So that’s how you choose to raise your daughter.”
Her posts were met with widespread public support, with many users offering prayers for her patience and strength.
Several commenters revisited earlier claims, including allegations of infidelity and deeply personal family trauma.
Ashfaq further alleged that Wasim had been unfaithful during her pregnancy and referenced a terminated pregnancy in 2023.
She also questioned professional accountability, calling out Islamabad United for selecting Wasim in the Pakistan Super League.
Previously, Nyla Raja had shut down allegations that she was involved with Imad Wasim.
Now with their marriage announcement, netizens flocked to her account and accused her of being a homewrecker.
