Nyla Rajah has broken her silence following intense public scrutiny, sharing a detailed Instagram statement addressing her marriage to cricketer Imad Wasim.
In her post, she described the decision to marry as one of the most significant choices of her life.
She began by reflecting on the nature of online judgment, writing:
“Taking views and creating trends on social media is very easy, but the consequences are real”.
Nyla emphasised that the emotional toll of public commentary is only fully understood by those directly experiencing it.
She noted that even influential public figures have faced separations under pressure, sometimes being forced into public religious oaths.
Positioning herself outside celebrity privilege, she wrote: “I am just an ordinary girl on my own, with my own career”.
Nyla explained that she initially spoke publicly because she believed misunderstandings needed clarification and silence would worsen speculation.
She added that standing up for herself has always been instinctive, despite the backlash becoming increasingly threatening and invasive.
According to her account, matters escalated when journalists allegedly began targeting her character and dissecting her personal life publicly.
She wrote that her privacy rapidly deteriorated, with people recording her without consent and circulating videos indiscriminately online.
The harassment, she claimed, soon extended beyond her, drawing her family and sisters-in-law into the controversy.
Highlighting the irony, she observed that individuals claiming to protect family values were simultaneously attempting to destroy one.
Nyla also addressed commentary about her past, asserting that previous chapters neither define nor diminish who she is today.
Confirming the marriage, she stated clearly: “With the blessings of Allah and my family, I am married to Imad Wasim”.
She rejected allegations of impropriety, stressing: “I did not date anyone. I got married through a proper proposal to a man previously married and later divorced.
“It is deeply hurtful when people try to protect themselves by blaming and targeting a single woman.”
Nyla described her statement as her lived truth, insisting she would continue standing by it despite sustained criticism.
In one of the most discussed portions, she addressed Imad Wasim’s children from his previous marriage directly.
She wrote: “If Allah reunites us with his children, with the consent of everyone involved, I will welcome them with an open heart”.
She further pledged to care for them with kindness, respect and responsibility, should that reunion ever take place.
Concluding her post, Nyla appealed for restraint, requesting people not attach assumptions to experiences they have not lived.
Despite the explanation, social media reaction remained divided.
One user stated bluntly: “The audacity to say this”.
Another warned: “A man who can abandon his kids can do the same to you.”
Others questioned why Nyla Raja is playing the victim now, with many telling her that she will face karma.
