"Every film doesn't have to be a torture and trauma."
Hrithik Roshan was last seen in War 2 (2025). The film was a sequel to War (2019) and served as the sixth instalment of the YRF Spy Universe.
In the film, Hrithik reprised his role as Kabir Dhaliwal. However, despite being an anticipated release, the film underperformed at the box office.
Against a budget of approximately Rs 400 crores, War 2 earned roughly Rs 351 crores.
The film was directed by Ayan Mukerji and also starred NT Rama Rao Jr, Kiara Advani, Ashutosh Rana, and Anil Kapoor.
Hrithik Roshan appeared to highlight the film’s box office failure on Instagram.
On October 3, 2025, the star posted several pictures of himself as Kabir and wrote a lengthy caption underneath.
He said: “Playing Kabir was so much fun. So relaxed, and I knew him so well. It was going to be easy.
“Finally a movie I could do like so many others do – keep it simple, play the actor, do your job, and come home.
“And it was exactly that. I was taken care of so well by my director Ayan.”
“It was such a pleasure to have his energy on set. Everything seemed so perfect. Like it’s meant to be.
“A sure shot. No worries – just needed to do my job right. Which of course I did.
“But something was lurking behind that presumptuous certainty. A voice that I kept shutting out – ‘This is too easy’.
“I know this too well. And another [voice] that said, ‘I deserve it’.
“Every film doesn’t have to be a torture and trauma and an incessant search for the truth of the moment. Relax.”
Although critics praised the action, cinematography and performances in War 2, they panned the visual effects, direction, and screenplay.
According to reports, War 2 is set to premiere on Netflix on October 9, 2025.
Nevertheless, the YRF Spy Universe is set to continue with Shiv Rawail’s Alpha, which will mark Alia Bhatt’s entry into the franchise.
A post-credits scene of War 2 introduced the audience to the upcoming film, unveiling Bobby Deol’s character in Alpha.
On the work front, Hrithik Roshan is currently gearing up for his directorial debut, Krrish 4.
Alongside directing the extravagant film, he will reprise his role as the titular superhero.
The movie will be jointly produced by Hrithik’s father Rakesh Roshan and Aditya Chopra.
Hrithik Roshan is also allegedly set to venture into production himself with a new series for Amazon Prime.
