Tragically, Aryan sustained a gunshot wound to his neck
Aryan Mishra, a Grade 12 student from Faridabad, Haryana, was mistakenly targeted as a cow smuggler and killed.
A CCTV video from the Gadpuri toll plaza on the Agra-Delhi national highway captured the chilling moments before Aryan was shot dead.
The footage shows Aryan and his friends travelling in a red Renault Duster car.
Their car was followed closely by a Suzuki Swift carrying the five accused individuals who have since been arrested.
In a tragic turn of events, Aryan was fatally shot mere seconds after being pursued by the vigilantes.
The arrested men were identified as Anil Kaushik, Varun, Krishna, Adesh and Saurabh.
During interrogation, one suspect claimed that they had received information regarding suspected cattle smugglers scouting the area in two SUVs.
Mistaking Aryan and his companions for the alleged smugglers, they attempted to intercept the vehicle at the behest of suspicions.
The friends’ failure to stop the car when instructed to do so raised their suspicions and the accused persistently pursued them, opening fire.
Tragically, Aryan sustained a gunshot wound to his neck while in the passenger seat.
Subsequently, another bullet struck Aryan in the chest, inflicting fatal injuries.
Aryan was swiftly transported to a hospital following the attack, where despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his wounds a day later.
The Faridabad Police said there was a lack of concrete evidence tying the attackers to ‘cow vigilante’ groups or associated organisations.
However, in a stark contradiction to official statements, one suspect’s mother openly acknowledged her son’s involvement in “cow protection” activities.
While vehemently asserting her son’s innocence regarding firing the fatal shot, she highlighted his dedication to “cow protection”.
She said: “Yes, my son was chasing that car that night.
“He told me he thought there was a cow smuggler in the car. He also said that the first bullet was fired from the Duster.
“But he did not fire any bullets, I don’t know whose bullet hit him. My son is innocent.
“He protects cows and serves society.”
Further probing into the accused’s background revealed corroborating accounts from his workplace peers.
They affirmed his reputation as a known figure within the realm of cow vigilantism.
Additionally, investigations into his affiliation with the organisation ‘Live for Nation’ have unearthed a series of YouTube videos.
These showcase members engaging in activities associated with cow protection. Some footage depicts the pursuit of individuals in cars by self-proclaimed cow vigilantes.
