"UN Women Pakistan welcomes Hania Aamir!..."
Hania Aamir, celebrated for her acting and relatable social media content, has been appointed national goodwill ambassador for UN Women Pakistan.
UN Women’s Pakistan office shared on Instagram that Aamir will “use her platform to raise awareness, inspire action, and amplify the voices of women and girls across Pakistan.”
The organisation emphasised working together with Aamir towards a future where “every woman and girl can realise her full potential free from violence, discrimination, and inequality.”
Aamir joins a prestigious list of South Asian goodwill ambassadors, including activist Muniba Mazari, actor Farhan Akhtar, and tennis professional Sania Mirza.
Internationally, UN Women ambassadors feature high-profile names such as Emma Watson, Nicole Kidman, and Anne Hathaway, highlighting the organisation’s global commitment to gender equality and women’s empowerment.
She becomes only the second Pakistani to hold this UN Women title, following Mazari’s appointment in 2015, solidifying her influence and responsibility in advocacy work.
Other Pakistani national ambassadors for UN agencies include Fawad Khan for UNDP, Mahira Khan for UNHCR, Shehzad Roy for UNODC, and Saba Qamar for UNICEF.
UN Women has long focused on improving Pakistani women’s lives, particularly during crises, offering counselling and legal support through Women Safe Spaces after the year’s devastating floods.
Aamir brings a strong social media presence, appealing especially to youth audiences, likely boosting interest in UN Women’s initiatives and encouraging young girls nationwide to engage actively.
