Cricket star Glenn Maxwell and his wife Vini Raman announced that they are having a baby boy.
Vini shared a picture of a baby’s dungarees accompanied by a framed sonography picture, announcing her pregnancy and revealing that the arrival is in September 2023.
It comes after the couple suffered a heartbreaking loss when they previously tried to have a child.
Tagging her cricketer husband, Vini wrote:
“Glenn and I are ecstatic to announce our rainbow baby is due September 2023.
“It’s so important for us to acknowledge this journey has not been the smoothest or easiest.
“I know first-hand how painful it can be to see posts like these wondering if and when your time will be.
“We send our love and strength to other couples who are struggling with fertility or loss.”
Glenn also shared the announcement on his Instagram Story.
Vini later explained what “rainbow baby” means. She continued:
“Overwhelmed by all the love.
“For those that aren’t aware a rainbow baby is a baby born after miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, molar pregnancy, termination for medical reasons, stillbirth or neonatal death.
“It symbolises the rainbow that happens after a storm.”
Fellow sportspeople congratulated the couple.
Sports broadcaster Neroli Meadows said: “Yeowwwwwww.”
Amy Finch, wife of ex-Australian T20 captain Aaron Finch, posted:
“So excited for you both!! Can’t wait to meet you little one.”
Channel 7 cricket presenter Erin Holland wrote:
“You know how much joy this brings me… congrats mum and dad.”
Rachel Khawaja, wife of Australian cricket star Usman Khawaja also posted:
“Congratulations to you both!! That is fantastic news.”
Bollywood star and Virat Kohli’s wife Anushka Sharma commented with a heart emoji.
The couple have been in a relationship since 2017 and got engaged in 2020 just before the Covid-19 pandemic.
In March 2022, Glenn Maxwell and Vini Raman married in a private ceremony in Melbourne.
Reportedly, 350 close friends of Glenn were in attendance for the wedding, which was under heavy security to prevent any leaks.
For the wedding, Glenn Maxwell wore a classic suit with a tie, while Vini looked gorgeous in a traditional white dress.
They later conducted an Indian ceremony in Chennai to honour Vini’s heritage and footage went viral.
In a video, Glenn wore a cream sherwani while pharmacist Vini wore a red lehenga.
The couple were seen exchanging garlands and playfully dancing during the ‘Varmala’ ceremony.
