"It seems I have been preparing all my life."

Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner has sparked excitement among Bollywood fans after revealing her desire to appear in a Hindi film during promotions for her upcoming series, Steal.

Best known for portraying Sansa Stark, the British actress spoke openly about her admiration for Indian cinema and some of its biggest stars in a recent interview.

Speaking to Firstpost, Sophie was asked whether she follows Indian films and did not hesitate to praise Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone.

“That’s tough, but Shah Rukh Khan is the GOAT. I love Deepika Padukone. She is amazing,” she said, expressing clear affection for both stars.

She also highlighted her love for SS Rajamouli’s blockbuster RRR, which gained global attention and introduced many Western audiences to Telugu cinema.

Sophie added that she would love to be part of a Bollywood film, especially the musical elements that define the industry’s larger-than-life storytelling.

“I would love to be a part of the song and dance. It’s such a spectacle. It is unlike anything we will ever see on a western film set,” she explained.

Turning attention to Steal, the series follows Zara, an ordinary office worker played by Sophie, whose routine workday takes a terrifying turn.

Zara works at pension fund investment company Lochmill Capital, where a gang of violent thieves storm the office and forces her and colleague Luke to comply.

Luke, played by Archie Madekwe, becomes Zara’s key ally as the criminals demand their cooperation in a high-stakes heist involving billions of pounds.

The investigation is led by DCI Rhys, portrayed by Jacob Fortune-Lloyd, who is determined to uncover who would steal ordinary people’s pensions and why.

However, Rhys faces his own struggles as a recently relapsed gambling addict, battling personal financial issues alongside secret agendas and competing interests.

Discussing her preparation for the role, Sophie admitted she did very little formal research before filming the series.

She said the script provided everything required, stressing that the story focuses more on the heist than the technicalities of financial work.

“I listen to crime podcasts all the time, so it seems I have been preparing all my life,” she added light-heartedly.

Steal is set to premiere on Prime Video on January 21, adding another intense crime drama to the streaming platform’s growing slate.

Away from her acting projects, Sophie Turner has also shared a high-profile connection with Bollywood star Priyanka Chopra in recent years.

Priyanka married Nick Jonas in 2018, while Sophie married his brother Joe Jonas in 2019, making them sisters-in-law.

Alongside Danielle Jonas, wife of Kevin Jonas, the trio became known publicly as the “J Sisters”.

They frequently shared outings, posted supportive messages online and spoke warmly about their bond amid the spotlight surrounding their husbands.

Sophie once welcomed Priyanka into the family, while Priyanka described Sophie and Danielle as close friends and sisters she never had.

However, that relationship appeared to shift following Sophie and Joe Jonas’s separation and divorce in 2023.

During the divorce proceedings, Sophie reportedly unfollowed Priyanka on Instagram, signalling a cooling of their once-close dynamic.

Despite personal changes, Sophie Turner continues to draw attention for her career choices, with her interest in Bollywood delighting South Asian audiences worldwide.
