"I know some people are like, 'What?'."
As the Love Island final approaches, one ex-Islander explained why they want Shakira Khan and Harry Cooksley to win.
The final takes place on August 4, 2025, with Shakira and Harry, Dejon Noel-Williams and Meg Moore, Jamie Rhodes and Yasmin Pettet, Ty Isherwood and Angel Swift, and Cach Mercer and Toni Laites in the running for the £50,000 prize.
But for recently dumped islander Billykiss Azeez, there is only one couple she wants to see crowned winners: Harry and Shakira.
She admitted that their turbulent journey is exactly why she’s rooting for them.
Speaking to Capital, Billykiss said: “I know some people are like, ‘What?’.
“I’m not condoning Harry’s behaviour at all, but I feel like for Shakira herself to end things with Conor very late within the journey says a lot.
“She didn’t end things with him with the intention of getting back with Harry.
“I think she truly said, ‘This is how I feel and I’m going to stay true to myself’. And I feel like at the end of the day, like this is part of the journey.
“Like, no one has a very smooth journey. Everyone has a very complex journey and they genuinely, really like each other and I think they deserve to win.”
Shakira’s journey in the villa began with Harry at the first recoupling, which led to Sophie Lee being dumped.
Their romance quickly hit turbulence when Harry’s attention shifted to Helena, leaving Shakira heartbroken.
She then tried to make a connection with Conor Phillips. But after several days, she admitted her feelings for Harry never faded. When she confessed this to Harry, he revealed he felt the same.
Billykiss defended Shakira’s decision to reunite with Harry, explaining:
“Shakira really, really likes Harry, like, she does. And I feel like sometimes the heart wants what it wants and you can’t blame a girl for having genuine feelings for someone.
“Obviously, with Shakira, she’s such a smart person and she’s been very emotionally intelligent with her decisions.”
“Like, even when she closed things off with Harry, she really closed things off. She didn’t leave the door slightly unlocked.”
Harry and Shakira’s rekindled romance has now carried them all the way to the Love Island final.
Whether viewers will reward their rocky but passionate journey with a win will be revealed on August 4.
