“We’re not hugging Harry.”
Shakira Khan may have rekindled things with villa heartbreaker Harry Cooksley, but her family weren’t buying the romance as family members entered the Love Island villa.
On July 27, 2025, the Islanders recoupled once again.
But it was the arrival of friends and relatives that added real tension on the July 28 episode. It promised even more fallout, as loved ones offered up their unfiltered views.
Shakira’s mum Sukina and sister Shanti made their way into the villa alongside Harry’s best friend, also named Harry, and his mum Julia.
But the meet-and-greet took a frosty turn when Harry approached the Firepit expecting warm hugs.
Instead, Sukina stayed seated and bluntly said: “We’re not hugging Harry.”
Before Harry even arrived, Shakira had confided in her family about the complicated feelings she still had for him.
She admitted: “I adore him and I really wish I didn’t, that’s the problem.
“It would be easier if I hated him, but I don’t.”
Sukina made her stance clear. “What I will say? With him, he can prove himself to you before he has to prove himself to me.”
As the Islanders watched on, tensions heightened when Sukina addressed Harry’s sudden decision to dump Helena, just days earlier.
She said: “I think the whole of the UK is [surprised]. I’m sorry, but we thought it was ‘undeniable’ Harry.”
The cold reception didn’t end there.
Shakira’s family continued to grill Harry, while his own mother offered some subtle but sharp remarks of her own.
The encounter left viewers divided over Harry’s intentions and Shakira’s emotional state.

Meanwhile, in the dressing room, Shakira and Harry debriefed about the tense recoupling that brought them back together.
Harry said:
“That was not easy. Not in terms of who I was going to pick, but just both of you [Shakira and Helena] being stood up there.”
Shakira didn’t hold back either: “I can’t believe we’re back at day two. Right back to where we started. Further back, if that’s even possible. This is no good.”
Still trying to stay positive, Harry responded: “No, I think it’s good. It doesn’t feel good, but I think it’s going to be really good.”
“Baby steps,” Shakira warned. “Yeah, I’m good with that,” Harry agreed.
But even that moment didn’t go smoothly. As Harry leaned in for a kiss, Shakira offered her cheek instead. “Baby steps, baby steps”, he said, settling for the slow route forward.
