"We shot the video in New York last week."

Global pop icon Ed Sheeran has revealed an exciting new collaboration with Punjabi superstar Karan Aujla on a forthcoming English-Punjabi track, set for release in October.

The song, already filmed in New York, marks Sheeran’s third Punjabi venture following his popular collaborations with Diljit Dosanjh on ‘Lover’ and Arijit Singh on ‘Sapphire’.

Speaking to BBC Asian Network, Ed described the project as a natural continuation of his journey into Punjabi music and his growing love for the language.

“The first time I sung in Punjabi was doing ‘Lover’, Diljit was teaching, and then obviously doing it with Arijit.

“And I’ve just done a tune with Karan Aujla as well, where we’ve done like a little bit of that,” Ed explained.

He confirmed that the track is complete and fans will not have to wait long.

“We shot the video in New York last week. It’s really good. It’ll come out, I reckon, sometime in October,” he shared.

Reflecting on his experience of learning Punjabi, Sheeran called it one of the most melodic and poetic languages he has ever sung in.

“What I found learning the bits that I’ve sung in Punjabi is a kind of melodic language, and even without melody, how poetic it is.

“The things that you say in English—when we translate it, sometimes it just doesn’t feel the same.

“So when you sing it in Punjabi or Hindi, whatever it might be, it always sounds way more beautiful,” he said.

On working with Aujla, Ed praised the Punjabi hitmaker for his honesty and dedication in helping him perfect his pronunciation.

“Like with Karan, sitting with him and him being like, ‘No, you say it like this, no, you say it like this.’

“And I said, be really, really brutal with me. And so we sat together, and he was brutally honest, and we made it work.

“I’m just really excited now,” Sheeran revealed.

For Aujla, the collaboration adds to a momentous year.

His recent 11-track album P-Pop Culture was released mid-concert at a sold-out Montreal arena on August 22, 2025.

Describing it as his most personal project yet, Aujla said he poured “every ounce” of himself into the music after two years of tireless effort.

The singer-songwriter is also set to make his debut at Rolling Loud India on November 23, 2025, at Loud Park in Navi Mumbai.

He will join an international line-up featuring Don Toliver, Westside Gunn and Sambata, cementing Punjabi music’s growing presence on the global stage.

With Ed Sheeran’s worldwide reach and Karan Aujla’s lyrical power, their joint track is already being hailed as one of the most anticipated crossovers of the year.
