“It is like pop, R&B, and a lot of Indian influences."

Zayn has given fans a taste of what’s next, revealing that his upcoming album will have Indian influences.

The former One Direction singer told The Sun:

“The next album is soon.

“I have been working on some cool s**t in South Asian music and bringing those influences into my music as well.

“It is like pop, R&B, and a lot of Indian influences. The record is like a continuation of Mind Of Mine in that sense. I might have some songs coming out in Urdu, too.”

He promised fans they would hear his new material shortly and teased a “cool collaborator”, sparking excitement as it comes shortly after being pictured with Louis Tomlinson.

“I’ve got some new music coming out soon with another cool collaborator. That is coming out first.

“We have got some big things lined up. I think next year is going to be a big year.”

Zayn’s upcoming album follows in the footsteps of Ed Sheeran, whose album Play was inspired by his time in India.

Zayn’s next song, ‘Break Free’, will be released on September 19, 2025, and was created in collaboration with 2K and Gearbox Software for the video game Borderlands 4.

He told Variety: “When I’m not working or with my daughter, my usual place is in front of the console, gaming with my friends back home in the UK.

“I’ve played Borderlands before, so when I was asked to collaborate on the music, it was a no-brainer.”

Explaining that the project pushed him out of his comfort zone, the singer said:

“The cool thing about working on collaborative projects for me is the fact that it’s not always in my ball park creatively.”

“I get to venture into new places sonically and emotionally as I feel like it doesn’t have to be a direct correlation to what I’m working on with my album.”

The singer also teased a possible career shift:

“I want to do my own radio show. I love doing the funny voices and all that silly s**t. I think it would be fun to do.

“We have been talking about it. We live in a really f***ing cool time.”

Zayn’s last album, Room Under The Stairs, reached number three in May 2024.

Earlier this summer, he previewed ‘Fuchsia Sea‘, a track that appeared to touch on the racism he faced during his One Direction days.

One lyric included: “I worked hard in a white band and they still laughed at the Asian.”
