“I did it to spice things up.”
A video by popular social media personalities Ducky Bhai and Aroob Jatoi has ignited a storm of criticism.
The video features Aroob slapping her husband Ducky in front of her mother in what turned out to be a prank.
However, it ended up being condemned for being tasteless and disrespectful.
The video begins with Ducky and Aroob sitting alongside the latter’s mother.
Aroob, holding her phone, confronted Ducky by asking: “What is this?”
Confused, Ducky responded: “What is this?”
Aroob then accused him of inappropriate behaviour, saying:
“You’ve said to her ‘Tell me more’.”
Ducky Bhai clarified that the girl in question had texted him for a YouTube promotion.
Meanwhile, Aroob stated that Ducky had also sent a red heart emoji to the girl.
Turning to her mother, Aroob claimed that Ducky has been messaging multiple girls, inquiring about their well-being and sending them red heart emojis.
Her mother questioned why Aroob was making such a big issue out of it.
Ducky then said: “I did it to spice things up.”
At that moment, Aroob slapped Ducky across the face before bursting into laughter. Ducky said to her that she had ruined the prank.
The video has since gone viral, attracting a flood of negative reactions from viewers.
Many people have criticised the prank for being in poor taste and for promoting a troubling message.
Critics argued that the video glorified abuse and questioned how the prank would be perceived if the roles were reversed.
This gender reversal argument has been a focal point of the backlash.
A user wrote:
“A man slapping a woman for the sake of a prank would be unequivocally unacceptable.”
Some viewers have expressed concern that such pranks could trivialise domestic violence and normalise aggressive behaviour in relationships.
One user wrote: “Even if it was a prank, a wife should not slap her husband like this. She should always respect him no matter what.”
One added: “They will do everything for money. I never thought their standards could fall so low.”
Others have highlighted the potential emotional harm and discomfort caused to Aroob’s mother, who did not know the stunt was a prank.
One comment said: “Why did they have to drag her mother into their videos?”
Another said: “That poor woman had no idea what was happening.”
