"you need to completely dedicate yourself to it."

Mawra Hocane has hinted that she may be stepping away from acting to focus on her legal career.

In a career reflection, Mawra shared her growing interest in law.

She revealed that she had completed her LLB degree but hadn’t been able to practically apply it in her career.

The actress explained that while she once thought to balance both acting and law, she now realises that it’s not a sustainable choice.

Mawra has already made strides in her legal education, having earned high marks in Contract Law in South Asia.

Her legal journey began in 2014 when she enrolled on a law degree at the University of London.

Mawra teased: “I could not pursue my degree, unfortunately.

“I was over-ambitious 5 years ago to believe that both careers can be worked upon simultaneously.

“But I think to be able to do any job properly, you need to completely dedicate yourself to it.

“So even if I ever want to become a lawyer and pursue it, then I have to work just as hard as I do on my acting career, and this has to be left behind.”

Mawra had to take a brief hiatus when she was offered a Bollywood film role. In 2017, she resumed her studies and completed her degree.

Mawra shared that she’s now ready to take the next step, which would involve a nine-week Bar course in London.

However, she has yet to decide when she will start this next phase of her education.

While her future may be shifting toward law, Mawra’s acting career remains memorable.

In recent years, she began selecting roles that were more thought-provoking and socially relevant.

Her portrayal of a domestic abuse survivor, Dr Zara, in the drama Jafaa was particularly well-received.

Mawra Hocane revealed that the reason she took on Jafaa was to shed light on the struggles that many women face in society.

She also touched on the idea that while financial independence is empowering, it doesn’t fully protect women from abuse.

Mawra’s journey in the entertainment industry has also been marked by personal growth and a shift in her approach to fame.

She admitted that her perception of stardom changed after working on Sabaat.

Initially, she wasn’t keen on taking on the role.

However, the script resonated with her deeply, prompting her to return to her hometown of Islamabad to reflect on her career and values.

This self-reflection led to her decision to step away from the “Instagram race” and focus on doing more meaningful, impactful work.
