Deepika Padukone wants to play Wonder Woman?

In a recent interview, Deepika Padukone talked about the kind of movie roles she wishes to do in Hollywood.

"There’s no reason why I want us to be Barbie."

Deepika Padukone is currently basking in the success of her recently released movie Pathaan.

The film, which is a comeback for Shah Rukh Khan after four years, has broken several box office records.

Helmed by Siddharth Anand, the film also features John Abraham as the antagonist.

At a recent event, the Om Shanti Om actor grabbed the limelight after she revealed South Asian representation and the kind of roles she wants to do in Hollywood.

Talking about the kind of roles she has rejected and the kind of roles she wishes to do in Hollywood, the Tamasha actor said:

“I think we have a long way to go when it comes to South Asian representation. So I think that’s what I am looking for.

“I am done for all of us – on behalf of all of us – being the Indian doctor in a movie or the Indian Taxi driver.

“I want to be a Wonder Woman, I want to be Bat Woman and there’s no reason, and when I say I, I mean we.

“There’s no reason why I want us to be Barbie.

“I want us to be all of those things and there’s no reason why we can’t be.

“And so the choice of or the decision to not do these movies is an intentional decision to say – bring me, bring us something that is worth our talent, worth our while and worth our energy.”

On the work front, Deepika will be seen in Fighter alongside Hrithik Roshan.

She will also be seen in Project K with Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, and Disha Patani.

She also has The Intern remake in Hindi with Amitabh Bachchan.

Deepika will also be seen in Singham 3 with Ajay Devgn which director Rohit Shetty confirmed during an event of his last film, Cirkus.

Meanwhile, the makers of Project K unveiled the release date of the film.

The film is slated to release in theatres on January 12, 2024.

On the occasion of Mahashivratri on February 18, the makers shared a new poster of the film along with the announcement of the film’s release date.

Sharing the poster, which has silhouette shots, Deepika Padukone captioned it:

“12.1.2024 Project K. Happy Mahashivratri.”

The film is being directed by Nag Ashwin and is backed by Aswini Dutt, producer and founder of Vyjayanthi Movies.
