Could Kiara Advani’s War 2 Bikini Scenes be Cut?

War 2 is just four days away from release, but the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has requested major changes.

The board has asked the makers to reduce the film’s sensual imagery by 50%, with a key focus on Kiara Advani’s bikini shots.

It has also requested to mute “inappropriate references”.

One of the most anticipated moments from the film is Kiara Advani’s first onscreen bikini look.

If the filmmakers implement the request, approximately nine seconds of Kiara’s bikini magic from the ‘Aavan Jaavan’ song would be removed.

Fans, who have been raving about her bold look since the teaser, are now waiting to see how much makes it to the final cut.

The CBFC has also asked for an obscene gesture to be removed and for certain vulgar words to be muted.

The film was cleared for release not by the Examining Committee (EC), but by the Revising Committee (RC).

A source told Bollywood Hungama: “It is possible that the EC must have asked for many changes, which must have prompted War 2 makers to approach the RC.

“The Presiding Officer of the RC was Padma Shri Ramesh Patange. He is known to clear those films for which the EC has had reservations.

“Last year, he had cleared the controversial film Hamare Baraah and also Vedaa. The latter also had faced issues with the EC, after which the RC cleared the film, albeit with changes.”

Unlike the first War film, directed by Siddharth Anand, War 2 is helmed by Ayan Mukerji.

Known for mounting films on a grand scale, Ayan now directs a cast featuring Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR and Kiara Advani.

The sequel is being called Yash Raj Films’ biggest casting coup since Silsila and Thugs of Hindostan.

Originally running for 2 hours and 59 minutes, the makers have trimmed the film to 2 hours and 51 minutes for a sharper pace. It has been granted a U/A 16+ certificate.

With high-octane action, star power and Kiara Advani’s much-discussed bikini debut, War 2 is among the year’s most anticipated releases.

Whether the CBFC’s requests are implemented in full will decide if audiences get to see Kiara’s swimsuit scenes as they were filmed, or in a toned-down form when War 2 releases on August 14, 2025.
