Chiranjeevi Konidela bagged the Indian Film Personality of the Year award at the International Film Festival of India 2022.

At the opening ceremony of the 53rd International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi was honoured with the Indian Film Personality of the Year 2022 award.

Chiranjeevi has acted in more than 150 films, primarily in the Telugu film industry.

He has also been part of various Hindi, Tamil, and Kannada films.

Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Anurag Thakur announced the Indian Film Personality of the Year award.

The minister praised the actor and said that Chiranjeevi has had an illustrious career spanning almost four decades.

The Union Minister congratulated the actor and shared a post on Twitter.

In the post, he said: “He is immensely popular in Telegu cinema with incredible performances touching hearts.”

Responding to the announcement, the actor tweeted:

“Greatly Delighted and Humbled at this honour, Sri Anurag Thakur!

“My deep gratitude to Govt of India and all my loving fans only because of whom I am here today!”

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 21, 2022, congratulated the superstar on being honoured with the Indian Film Personality of the Year award.

In his two-series tweet, PM Modi lauded the actor for his diverse roles and wonderful nature, making him popular across generations.

His tweet read: “Chiranjeevi Garu is remarkable.

“His rich work, diverse roles, and wonderful nature have endeared him to film lovers across generations.

“Congratulations to him on being conferred the Indian Film Personality of the Year at IFFI Goa.”

Andhra Pradesh Governor Biswa Bhusan Harichandan also congratulated Chiranjeevi on being chosen for the lifetime achievement award.

The veteran actor, one of the prominent actors in the industry, is known for his dance performances and powerful fight sequences in films, including Gharana Mogudu, Khaidi, Indra, and Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy, among others.

Chiranjeevi also tried his hand at politics.

In 2008, he founded the Praja Rajyam Party and became an MLA.

Later, he merged his political party with the Indian National Congress and became a Rajya Sabha member.

Further, he also served as the Minister of Culture and Tourism of India from October 2012 to May 2014.

In 2006, the 67-year-old actor was honoured with the Padma Bhushan, India’s third-highest civilian award, for his contribution to Indian cinema.

Chiranjeevi was last seen on the big screen in the action blockbuster Godfather in 2022.

The film also featured superstar Salman Khan in a special appearance.

The IFFI event is being held in Goa and will conclude on November 28, 2022.
