Self-proclaimed singer and viral personality Chahat Fateh Ali Khan faced an unexpected incident during his recent visit to the United Kingdom.
He had been invited to inaugurate a paratha shop when a group of boys suddenly targeted him with eggs.
The incident was captured on video, showing Chahat visibly shocked as an egg cracked on his head while another hit his chest.
Both youngsters quickly fled the scene, leaving the singer to lash out in both Punjabi and English.
When the video went viral, social media users strongly condemned the act.
A user wrote: “This shows how wrongly those boys were brought up.”
Another said: “This is shameful and should not happen. Even if you don’t like him, he is an elder and should be respected.”
Several others also criticised the behaviour as “stupid and childish”, calling it unnecessary harassment of a man who entertains people.
One person labelled the egging as “highly condemnable.”
The viral video quickly sparked debate, with many saying that while Chahat is often viewed as comic relief, humiliation crosses a line.
A portion of users claimed the spectacle was staged by the restaurant itself to draw attention and go viral.
According to these voices, the timing of the video release during the shop’s launch event seemed too coincidental.
While no proof supports this theory, the suggestion added fuel to an already heated debate online.

Before this controversy, Chahat was already in the headlines due to comments made by veteran singer Ali Haider on television.
When asked if he would ever perform with Chahat for 200 million rupees, Haider responded with laughter and polite refusal.
Haider remarked:
“Let Chahat live his life. This is his time.”
The singer added that no one should interfere with someone’s destiny.
He explained that even if many see Chahat as humorous, he still deserves freedom and respect to pursue his passion.
Chahat later responded with his trademark wit during a YouTube interview, joking about Haider’s career while laughing throughout the exchange.
He said: “He left Karachi and settled in the U.S. That’s fine. But if he refuses to sing with me even after being offered 20 crore rupees, then that’s okay too.
“I’m a poor man; I can’t afford such a sum anyway.”
He added playfully that he, too, intends to visit the United States soon, delivering the line with his usual comedic timing.
This light-hearted back-and-forth between Chahat and Haider became a trending topic, showing how easily his persona generates online buzz.
