“I have never seen her this uncomfortable and scared"
Mathira has publicly condemned self-proclaimed singer Chahat Fateh Ali Khan for what she described as inappropriate behaviour.
The host called it a breach of her personal boundaries during a recent recording of The 21MM Show.
The controversy stemmed from a behind-the-scenes video posted by Chahat without Mathira’s consent, which has since gone viral.
In the video, Chahat could be seen meeting Mathira and moving in for a hug. He then asked to take a picture with her.
While Mathira appeared hesitant, she agreed to the request.
During the photo session, Chahat held her hand and placed his other hand on her back – something that made Mathira visibly uncomfortable.
Despite that, she maintained her composure and treated him with respect.
She later clarified that the interaction left her deeply upset as it violated her trust and personal space.
Mathira revealed that the video was not recorded by official cameras on set but was instead captured by a member of Chahat’s team.
She said: “This video was not made with our cameras, but by Chahat Fateh without permission.
“My team and I did not know that this video was made.
“The show’s cameras are somewhere else, while this video was made from another place, which is not allowed.”
Criticising his actions, Mathira continued:
“I always treat my guests with the utmost respect, but Chahat’s behaviour deeply hurt me.
“Yes, I am a bold personality, but that does not mean I would let you hug or touch me if you see me.
“Being a woman, yes, I was very uncomfortable. I don’t hug people or shake hands without my consent. This kind of behaviour is unacceptable.”
The host further revealed that Chahat had initially promised to remove the video from social media.
However, despite assurances, the video remains online, and no apology has been issued.
Mathira expressed her disappointment, calling the act “unethical” and a clear attempt to gain attention at the expense of her privacy and dignity.
Mathira also addressed the wider issue of consent, reminding her fans and the public to respect personal boundaries.
Chahat Fateh Ali Khan, known for his comedic performances and viral hits like ‘Bado Badi’, is facing backlash for his actions.
The incident has overshadowed his online presence and the viewers have demanded a public apology.
A user said: “I have never seen her this uncomfortable and scared before.”
Another wrote: “He should be ashamed of himself and apologise to Mathira.”
One commented: “She clearly looks uncomfortable and disgusted. Glad she shared this incident.”
