“Apparently, creative differences developed"
Bollywood actor Kartik Aaryan has reportedly been axed from yet another film.
Aaryan was recently cut from Karan Johar’s film Dostana 2, starring Janhvi Kapoor and Lakshya.
Now, it appears he is also out of Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment production, Goodbye Freddy.
The film, directed by Ajay Bahl, also stars Katrina Kaif.
If reports are to be believed, Kartik Aaryan wanted the Goodbye Freddy script changed to suit his requirements.
According to reports:
“Apparently, creative differences developed between Kartik and the director Ajay Bahl due to which the actor decided on leaving the project.
“Kartik was not happy with the developed script as it was different to what was narrated to him as a one-liner plot.”
It is also speculated that Kartik Aaryan returned the signing fee for Goodbye Freddy – a total of almost £195,000.
The social comedy film Goodbye Freddy was due for release in June 2021.
Now, it seems that a new male lead will have to be found.
Goodbye Freddy is now the second film that Kartik Aaryan has walked away from in 2021.
Dostana 2 filmmaker Karan Johar announced Aaryan’s departure in April 2021.
Multiple rumours circulated regarding the reasons for his exit, such as unprofessional behaviour and low fees.
However, it was also speculated that Kartik Aaryan had a falling out with his co-star, Janhvi Kapoor.
While filming for Dostana 2, Aaryan and Kapoor fell out and their friendship ended in January 2021.
This allegedly made Aaryan uncomfortable, and he became difficult to have on set.
According to sources, he even issued an ultimatum, saying he would only continue filming Dostana 2 if they dropped Janhvi Kapoor.
Therefore, Johar made the decision to drop Kartik Aaryan from the film.
In a statement following Aaryan’s departure, Karan Johar’s production company Dharma Productions said:
“Due to professional circumstances, on which we have decided to maintain a dignified silence – we will be recasting Dostana 2, directed by Collin D’Cunha.
“Please wait for the official announcement soon.”
However, Kartik Aaryan does have some active roles in the pipeline.
The actor is currently busy shooting for his upcoming horror-comedy Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. He will feature alongside Tabu and Kiara Advani.
The film is a follow-up of the 2007 film Bhool Bhulaiyaa, and is due for release in November 2021.
Kartik Aaryan is also due to appear in the film Dhamaka, which is scheduled for an OTT release in 2021.
