“We would like to thank BCABA for this Community Excellence award"
Special guests, celebrities and entrepreneurs graced the BCABA Network Annual Dinner & Awards on 29th September 2017.
Taking place at the prestigious Wolverhampton Racecourse, business owners from around the Black Country arrived to celebrate the incredible achievements of their peers. Numerous sponsors including media partners DESIblitz.com were also in attendance.
Hosted by Sameena Ali Khan from ITV Central and with entertainment from international artist Jaggi Jagowal, the evening was a huge success. The ceremony honoured those men and women who are achieving great things and inspiring others with their innovative business ventures.
Winners included the likes of Angela Bir who took home an incredible two awards on the night including, ‘Business Women of the Year’ and overall ‘Business of The Year’ for the Ramada Park Hall.
Expressing her joy over both accolades, Bir said: “BCABA hosted a truly great night with a number of celebrities being present at the event.
“I would like to thank all the board members of BCABA who relentlessly commit their time to encourage businesses to go from strength to strength and succeed to achieve their goals.
“It is an honour for me to receive two awards at the event and I commit myself to helping others to succeed in years to come.”
Bir was one of the several Asian women taking home awards for their successful initiatives. ‘Learning Business of the Year’ was won by Manjinder Sangha of Kapture8, an innovative teaching platform and app. Sangha said:
“We are delighted to have won the Learning Business of the Year and humbled that we have received such support and recognition from the BCABA Network. We hope it inspires others to keeping working hard and achieving their goals. Kapture8 hopes to continue to shape the future of education.”
‘Retailer of the Year’ went to Amerjit Singh while ‘Business Person of the Year’ went to Gurdev Singh Bahra of Specialist Metallic Coatings Ltd. Bahra also won the ‘Environmental Award for Business’ for his Wolverhampton based business.
Also celebrating the strides businesses have made to connect with their local communities, the ‘Community Excellence Award’ was given to multiple winners including, Midland Langar Seva Society, Chan Nandhray, SWAN – Sikh Women’s Action Network and Access 2 Business.
Sahdaish Pal, Chair of SWAN said: “We would like to thank BCABA for this Community Excellence award. The Sikh Women’s Action Network (SWAN) are truly honoured to receive it. It is an even greater honour to be shortlisted amongst those that make such a positive contribution to society and people we consider to be our friends and colleagues.
“We are humbled to see that people have taken SWAN into their hearts and minds and this has allowed us to achieve what we set out to do in supporting and empowering women from all communities.
