"Pathaan's party continues in Bangladesh"
Videos showing joyous fans inside theatres in Bangladesh dancing to ‘Jhoome Jo Pathaan’ as the Shah Rukh Khan blockbuster was released.
Pathaan was released on May 12, 2023, and it was a historic moment because while Bollywood films are popular in the country, they have not been released in Bangladesh since the country’s formation in 1971 in a bid to protect the country’s local film industry.
In February 2023, a consortium of 19 Bangladesh film associations decided to allow Hindi-language films to release in the country and suggested that 10 films release a year.
Pathaan was the first Hindi-language film to have a wide theatrical release in Bangladesh.
Theatres were sold out and those who watched the film danced to the tracks.
One video showed fans dancing to ‘Jhoome Jo Pathaan’.
As SRK appeared on the big screen, fans screamed.
Another video showed a young girl dancing to the title song. The caption read:
“Pathaan‘s party continues in Bangladesh and even little kids can’t stop themselves from grooving to Jhoome Jo Pathaan!”
A post showed fans standing in front of the screen and grooving while other theatregoers filmed the moment.
The caption read: “Pathaan craze in Bangladesh. Mass Hysteria as audience dances to ‘Jhoome Jo Pathaan’.”

Speaking about Pathaan‘s release in Bangladesh, Nelson D’Souza of Yash Raj Films said:
“Cinema has always been a unifying force between nations, races, and cultures.
“It transcends borders, galvanises people, and plays a significant hand in bringing people together.
“We are incredibly thrilled that Pathaan, which has done historic business worldwide, will now get a chance to entertain audiences in Bangladesh.”
Pathaan marked Shah Rukh’s return to the big screen after Zero in 2018.
Also starring Deepika Padukone, John Abraham and Dimple Kapadia, the film was a huge success, crossing the coveted Rs. 1,000 Crore-mark at the box office.
