“These are brothels and wh*rehouses in the name of spa"
The peaceful environment of Bahria Town in Rawalpindi has descended into protests against spas and massage parlours in the area.
Located in Phase 4 of this upscale society, the Civic Centre is being deemed the hub of illicit activities.
In a plea addressed to the Minister of Interior, Mohsin Naqvi, the Executive Director of BT Islamabad highlighted the public’s concerns.
He emphasised the alarming rise of spas, massage parlours, shisha centres, prostitutes, and drug trade within the vicinity.
Despite concerted efforts by the Bahria Town administration to curb these nefarious activities, things continue to escalate.
It has prompted residents to voice their dissent through protests staged in the Civic Centre.
The complaints are still ongoing and residents come out every night to record their protests.
The presence of criminals has also cast a shadow over what was once a bustling business and commercial hub.
This has been posing a direct threat to the community’s well-being and safety.
Expressing deep concern over the unrest and potential violence stemming from these protests, Bahria Town officials have issued a warning.
The administration claimed this may lead to possible clashes in the area fuelled by religious and political sentiments.
In a bid to restore peace and order, they urgently implored the Minister of Interior to intervene.
They instructed the Police and District Administration to initiate a comprehensive clean-up operation targeting the removal of immoral elements from the Civic centre.
The gravity of the situation necessitates action, as emphasised in the letter.
It underscores the urgency of permanently shutting down the identified establishments and expelling individuals engaged in illicit activities from the premises.
Bahria Town Pvt Limited has highlighted that the successful execution of this clean-up operation is not just a matter of public interest.
They deemed it a crucial step towards reinstating a sense of security and sanctity within the Civic Centre as well.
They claim that it is within the interest of both the residents of the private housing society and the general populace at large.

Social media users have applauded residents for this step, saying it was necessary.
A user said: “In DHA 2 there are parties on Saturday nights.
“The whole night they spread vulgarity please go there, catch them on the spot and make an example out of them.”
Another wrote: “These are brothels and wh*rehouses in the name of spa and massage centres.”
On the fifth day of the protest, one massage centre was successfully shut down.
However, many claim it has just been relocated and not shut down.
